Humans are unique biologically through their DNA, and they begin as unique beings created in God's image, but their non-biological originality in thinking, speaking, and acting soon vanishes as they absorb the attitudes and values of the world. Trying to be original through transgressive behavior is therefore not originality at all, since everyone sinning is simply normal. The desire to be original, special, or superior is a fundamental pride of human nature. The human spirit gives intellect and the faculties of language and reason, so tremendously intelligent and creative people can build wonderful works on this earth, working with numbers and engineering principles, and they deserve to be counted among the great and wise of the world. Yet this ability is limited to human and physical things. Without God's Spirit, no one can know the things of God, and worldly wisdom is foolishness to Him. Real distinction comes only from being in Christ, who is the wisdom of God. Those who have the Spirit have the mind of Christ and should judge by it rather than falling back on their own knowledge and experience. All glory belongs to God, not to human gifts or leaders.
