Searching for Israel (Part Nine): The Migration of a Monarchy

Article by Charles Whitaker

By the time of David, a princely clan of Zerahites was established as Ireland's royal family, ruling a part of the tribe of Dan, known as the Tautha de Danann of Irish legend, which had also settled there. This connection highlights the presence of Judah's lineage among the tribe of Dan in Ireland, maintaining the scepter of Judah through the Zerahite monarchy despite the fall of Zedekiah's line in Jerusalem.

Israel: Present

'Prophecy Watch' by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

In the far northern reaches of Israel, the city of Laish was taken and renamed Dan, after their ancestor Dan, who was born to Israel. Since then, the tribe of Dan has continued naming places after their forefather. Across Europe, numerous locations bear the name of Dan, evident in rivers such as the Don, Dnieper, Dniester, and Danube, all flowing into the Black Sea. The Romans referred to the Rhine and Rhone rivers as Eridanus and Rhodanus. Denmark, meaning Dan's Land, and Sweden are situated in northwestern Europe. In England, places like Dunkirk, meaning Dan's Church, reflect this naming tradition, and similar names are abundant in England, Scotland, and especially Ireland, where "dun" means judge, mirroring the Hebrew "dan." As seen with Dan, names hold significant importance in tracing the migratory paths of Israel after their captivity, providing clues to their presence across various regions.
