As Christian soldiers, we march in spiritual warfare, led by Christ, our royal Master, against satan, the world, and our human nature. We fight not with physical weapons but with the Word of God as our sword, memorizing verses to overcome trials and temptations. Disciplined in prayer, study, and endurance, we stand united as a mighty army, bonded by God's Spirit, facing hardships with trust in Jesus' strength. Called as citizen-soldiers of God's Kingdom, we avoid entanglement in worldly affairs, focusing on spiritual battles. Through daily training and mental preparation, we grow to mirror Christ, conquering challenges to gain eternal life, always ready for His return.

A Band of Christian Brothers

Sermon by Ted E. Bowling

Onward, Christian soldiers, we march as to war, with the Word of Jesus going on before. Christ, the royal Master, leads us against the foe, and forward into battle, we see His banners go. As Christian soldiers, we are not engaged in physical combat with traditional weapons or against people, but in a spiritual warfare with the goal of reaching the Kingdom of Heaven. Each of us must possess a singleness of mind and purpose, disciplined in study and prayer, courageous in doing right, and loyal to Jesus Christ, even in difficulty. Daily, we face challenges to our faith—trials, temptations, fear, distractions, and pressures to compromise. God has called us to follow Him, to put on spiritual armor, and to trust Him in this battle. We are in a spiritual conflict with satan the devil, the world, and our own human nature. Discipline and obedience are at the core of our calling, much like soldiers in training. Through God's Holy Spirit, our services, prayers, and study, we learn to endure, knowing that our lives depend on it. As a band of Christian brothers and sisters, we are called to endure spiritual hardships, facing times of pain, sorrow, and adversity. We must stand firm, trusting that Jesus Christ stands by our side, providing strength and resources to overcome, for only through His power can we defeat the enemy. Like a mighty army moves the church of God, we tread where the saints have trod, united as one body in hope and charity. As a band of spiritual brothers and sisters, separated by miles yet bonded through the Spirit of God, we strengthen each other. We are called to build bonds of love and unity, not walls of separation, standing together as one with our Father, with Jesus Christ, and with each other. Our first responsibilities are to God and to our Commander, Jesus Christ, enduring hardships with patience and a vision of the Kingdom of God, glorifying Him in the process. Jesus Christ, the Captain of our salvation, leads us into challenges, knowing us better than we know ourselves and never putting us through more than we can handle. He calls us to stand and endure together with our brethren, growing individually and collectively through trials. We do not stand alone; our Savior is with us, encouraging us to persevere no matter the difficulty, for through endurance, we mature and become more like Him.

Our Heavenly Citizenship

'Ready Answer' by Austin Del Castillo

As citizens of a heavenly Kingdom, we are reminded of our true identity and calling. In II Timothy 2:3-4, Paul describes us as soldiers of that Kingdom, enlisted in Christ's army to fight a cosmic, spiritual war. We must stay spiritually sharp, remembering who we are, even as trouble brews in the streets and the nation's morals decline. As citizen-soldiers of the Kingdom of God, we must not become entangled in the affairs of a nation that fights for the other side, especially as this age winds down toward the return of Jesus Christ.

Unsheathe Your Sword! (Part Two)

'Ready Answer' by Pat Higgins

Christian soldiers are called to win battles, not merely to play church, as God urges those who overcome to conquer spiritual challenges. As good soldiers of Jesus Christ, Christians engage in a war that is a life-and-death struggle for spiritual life, where one either conquers or is conquered. To those who win, God promises sonship and eternal life, while those who fail risk dire consequences. In this spiritual war, Christian soldiers must arm themselves with the Word of God as their sword, memorizing key verses to internalize Christ's mind and be ready to repel any attack. They should focus on one battle at a time, searching the Scriptures for the precise weapon to overcome specific obstacles or thought patterns, using only the essential portions of verses for maximum effectiveness. Following Christ's example of precision in thwarting the devil's attacks, they must wield their sword with care and efficiency. To enhance their readiness, Christian soldiers can adopt techniques like visualization, mentally rehearsing scenarios to prepare for challenges and respond as Christ would. This mental preparation, inspired by elite warriors, helps shift from reactive to proactive responses, refining approaches with each attempt to mirror Christ's mind and establish obedient habits. Daily systems, such as prayer and memorization routines, are vital for overcoming, starting with easier battles to build skill and confidence before facing tougher tests. Repetition in training, through daily prayer, study, and weekly reviews of memorized verses, ensures Christian soldiers remain sharp and ready for unexpected attacks. Memorization also empowers prayers, aligning requests with God's will for confident petitions. As part of their training program, which includes prayer, study, fasting, and meditation, memorizing verses prepares them for increasing challenges in a corrupt and confusing world. In these critical times, Christian soldiers must awaken from spiritual slumber, recognizing the pervasive lukewarm attitude and unpreparedness for Christ's sudden return. It is high time to cast off darkness, put on the armor of light, and don the Lord Jesus Christ, unsheathing their sword to win battles and stand firm against the assaults of a fallen world.
