Firstfruits and the Master Potter

Sermon by Clyde Finklea

Jesus Christ, as the First of the firstfruits, was raised from the dead to eternal life, marking the beginning of a spiritual harvest. He is building His house of called-out ones, a spiritual congregation, and death or the grave will not prevail against it. As the High Priest, He continues to construct this new spiritual house of Israel, distinct from the old, promising to return and resurrect His called-out ones to eternal life as firstfruits. On the day of firstfruits in AD 31, Jesus initiated the building of this spiritual house, and neither death nor the grave will hinder Him from completing His work. When the Master Potter finishes His molding, He will have a Family shaped into the image and likeness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, prepared as priests under Him to rule for a thousand years.

The Blessing of Firstfruits

CGG Weekly by John Reiss

Jesus Christ became the First of the Firstfruits when He rose from death and was accepted by God the Father. At the time of the cutting of the Wavesheaf offering, when the count to Pentecost begins, our Savior was resurrected from the grave at the close of the weekly Sabbath. The following morning He was presented to God the Father as the First of the Firstfruits at the time the sheaf was waved before God at the Temple. In the harvest analogy, if Christ is the First of the Firstfruits, and God's chosen are called firstfruits, it is implied yet others will follow, develop, and grow to maturity, comprising God's main harvest. In addition to our Savior, the First of the Firstfruits and the firstborn from the dead, God has invested His time and energy in us as His firstfruits.

Let the Saints be Joyful in Glory!

Sermon by Martin G. Collins

Jesus Christ is described as the first of the firstfruits and the first to be raised, the first accepted, and then in time, others will follow. Jesus Christ is the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. Christ the firstfruits comes, afterwards those who are Christ's at His coming. Christ the first of the firstfruits comes, afterward those firstfruits who are Christ's at His coming. Christ, the excellent wave sheaf, was harvested from the physical world by being resurrected from the dead, accepted by God, and became the firstborn of many brethren. The wave sheaf offering represents the pure, sinless, and risen Christ. The wave sheaf offering symbolizes Christ. The 50-day period begins with the waving of the sheaf for the firstfruit barley representing Christ. Jesus Christ is the first among the firstborn.
