Letters to Seven Churches (Part One): Introduction
Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughThe book of Revelation is a true, spiritual, vital warning and a teaching tool. It is not just a prophecy, but it is there to teach us something, to get us ready. The book itself, the Apocalypse, as it is in Greek, is a book of unveiling, of disclosure. God put this book in the Bible, not to hide anything, but to disclose it, to reveal it. That is why it is called Revelation. The meaning of apocalypse in Greek, which is revelation in English, has to do with opening it up and making it understandable. So He is giving us the book of Revelation to teach us something, opening something up, revealing it to us.
What Is the Book of Revelation?
'Prophecy Watch' by David C. GrabbeThe book of Revelation centers on the unveiling of Jesus Christ, a visible revelation when He returns from heaven with His angels. This unveiling signifies His appearance in glory and His glorification in His saints, who will be resurrected and transformed into heavenly glory. The unveiling ties directly to the fulfillment of the gospel message He brought, marking the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth as He removes human governance and assumes rulership. This revelation is the core of the book, detailing how the governments of this world will come under God's authority during the Day of the Lord, the time period encompassing the events immediately preceding and including His return. The unveiling also coincides with the salvation of the saints, both living and dead, bringing divine favor and the realization of their hope in the resurrection. Though currently hidden from the world, His return will ensure that every eye sees Him, fulfilling the promise of His revelation in the last time.
How Does God Help Us? (Part 1)
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughThe process of unveiling begins when God calls us out of spiritual Egypt, revealing our bondage to Satan, sin, and the world. This unveiling is crucial as it marks the start of our spiritual pilgrimage, where we begin to understand the true nature of our enslavement. God's truth plays a pivotal role in this unveiling, as it is through truth that we gain the spiritual and moral freedom necessary to embark on this journey. The truth removes the veil of blindness, enabling us to see and understand God's plan and purpose for us. This process of unveiling is not instantaneous but requires our active participation in believing and applying God's truth in our daily lives. As we do so, we continue to become freer, preparing us for life in the Kingdom of God.
