Before the World Began
Feast of Tabernacles Sermon by Mark SchindlerOur awesome Creator God, who inhabits eternity and has determined the end from the beginning, has confidently established a unique place for each of us within the Body of Christ. Does He prepare us for this place by designing and creating specific gifts within us even before our mother's womb? Is it within His incredible power and mind to have set aside a place for us to serve with these God-given gifts from before the world began? As Jesus Christ encouraged His disciples in John 14, this could be the next step in an ongoing preparation process, enabling all of us who are called to fully use our gifts in the place He has designated. According to His own purpose and grace, given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, God has saved us and called us with a holy calling, as Paul wrote to Timothy. These gifts, specific and necessary to God's purpose, are part of His plan for each of us individually, possibly from before the world began. Is it too much to imagine that our great and holy God decided to bless us with what we have received, meticulously creating a destination for each individual He has called to be among the firstfruits with Jesus Christ, even from before the world began? As we consider the Parable of the Minas in Luke 19, we are reminded how special we are to God, with Jesus Christ preparing a specific place for each of us within the Body, perhaps started with each of us in mind before the world began.
