Offering Profane Fire

Sermonette by Craig Sablich

The concept of changing times and laws reveals a profound shift in worship practices over history. Daniel chapter 7 verse 25 speaks of a future power that would intend to alter times and laws, a prophecy that history demonstrates through the actions of human authority. As anti-Jewish sentiment grew among Gentile groups, driven by human reasoning and pride, church leaders distanced themselves from anything considered Jewish. The seventh-day Sabbath, God's appointed feasts, and obedience itself became problematic. By 325 AD, Roman authorities replaced God's instructions with man-made traditions, substituting the Sabbath with Sunday worship, Passover with Easter, and abandoning God's calendar while redefining obedience as legalism. This shift was not initiated by God, who remains unchanging, but by human decisions that blended foreign customs into worship, creating a system unrecognizable to Him. Scripture warns against such alterations in Deuteronomy chapter 12 verse 32, commanding adherence to God's instructions without adding or subtracting from them. Yet, these changes have led to a worship system rooted in human tradition rather than divine authority, a system that scripture labels as strange and foreign. God's call remains clear: to return to His true Sabbath, His feasts, and His system of worship as He designed it, rejecting the authority of men for the pure authority of His word.

Over 77% of 'Christian' churches have chosen the day of the sun as their day of rest, rejecting the day God hallowed from creation, seen in the 4th Commandment.

Stewardship of God's Temple (Part Three)

Feast of Tabernacles Sermon by David F. Maas

Humanity has been disobeying the laws of sleep and rest, leading to a cumulative sleep-debt which has shortened and deteriorated the quality of their lives.

The Book of Daniel (Part Five)

Sermon by Martin G. Collins

Daniel 7-8 is full of overlapping images and visions. Both chapters show the certainty of the end of Gentile kingdoms, replaced by God's eternal Kingdom.

A Calendar Summary

Feast of Tabernacles Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh

God gave us a calendar, assigning the responsibility for its maintenance to the nation of Israel, not to the church or private individuals.

Faith, Government, and the Calendar (Part Four)

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh

The calculated Hebrew calendar reflects God's faithfulness in providing His children a reliable calendar. Concocting one's own calendar is presumptuous.
