Isaac and the Day of Small Things
Sermon by Charles Whitaker (1944-2021)We dare not despise the days of small things. For 180 years, Isaac stayed home, held the fort, and kept the faith, remaining faithful in the small things, in little matters. Like many of us who lead seemingly humdrum lives, perhaps only praying and paying, Isaac was called by God to endure to the end. His steadfastness in small responsibilities mirrors the call to be faithful in minor tasks, which God does not deem insignificant. As with Isaac, who carried on his father's work and lived according to his teachings, our persistence in small things is vital to Him. We must not grow weary or apathetic in the routine of life, for the work God has given us, however small it may seem, holds great importance in His eyes.
