The Humblest of Beginnings

Sermonette by David C. Grabbe

Throughout history, the work of God often starts from the humblest of beginnings. In the last century, the earliest days of this work began with small-town evangelistic campaigns and tiny congregations. The first magazine was hand-copied on a mimeograph, and the initial radio station had minimal reach. When Ambassador College was founded in 1947, its first class had only four students. This pattern of starting small powerfully demonstrates that when God works through mankind, He begins with modest means, underscoring the importance of not despising the day of small things. In the present, the Church of the Great God continues this tradition through its Internet projects. The main website, launched with just 94 daily visitors in July of the previous year, has grown significantly, now averaging over 300 visitors per day. Other websites, like Sabbath.org, Worldwatchdaily.org, and the upcoming BibleTools.org, also started with small numbers but show exceptional growth rates. Though these are humble beginnings, the potential reach of this medium surpasses many traditional methods, and with God at the helm, the future of these efforts rests in His purpose.
