The Miracles of Jesus Christ: Healing Malchus' Ear (Part One)
Bible Study by Martin G. CollinsIn the tumultuous night in the Garden of Gethsemane, as Jesus was confronted by a multitude armed with swords and torches sent by the chief priest to arrest Him, an act of violence unfolded. In response, Jesus performed a miraculous act of mercy, restoring Malchus' ear, demonstrating His compassion even in the face of impending suffering and arrest.
The Miracles of Jesus Christ: Healing Malchus' Ear (Part Two)
Bible Study by Martin G. CollinsJesus Christ exhibited great power and mercy when He restored the ear of Malchus, a servant of the high priest, who had come to arrest Him in the Garden of Gethsemane. Despite this miraculous act, the band of men accompanying Malchus proceeded to apprehend Jesus, showing no immediate effect from the miracle on their actions. Resistance to God moved the multitude to detain Jesus, exposing their ungodly attitudes and emotions. As for Malchus himself, there is no record of his reaction to having his ear restored, leaving unanswered whether he questioned his antagonism toward Jesus or coldly resisted his Healer. Jesus, in contrast, remained steadfast, rebuking Peter for his assault on Malchus and affirming His submission to the Father's will.
