Ambassadors for Christ

Sermon by Martin G. Collins

Living for Jesus Christ compels us to represent Him and God's Kingdom as ambassadors. As a new creation, transformed by accepting Him as our Savior, we become a brand new man with new values, motivations, and possessions. This new nature must be nurtured by spiritual decisiveness to grow in Christ with the help of God's Spirit, providing hope even amidst worldly chaos. Christ's love urges us to be reconcilers, helping others to reconcile with God and one another, reflecting our role as His representatives. As ambassadors for Christ, we must be citizens of heaven, undergoing a profound change to become sons of the Kingdom. Our citizenship in heaven grants us privileges far beyond earthly ones, with our King being the King of kings and Lord of lords, the Son of God Himself. Our spiritual capitol is the heavenly Jerusalem, and as citizens scattered across the earth, we belong to a vast, eternal Kingdom. This position demands that we live as foreigners to the world, not conforming to its ways but adhering to the laws and customs of God's Kingdom. To truly live for Christ, we must ensure we are not strangers or foreigners within His church. We should feel at ease among God's people, understand their language and concerns, and be in on the spiritual mysteries revealed to His saints. Conforming to the commands of God, which are not burdensome to the true Christian, is essential. Our concern for the state and well-being of God's family must be instinctive, and above all, we must possess a spiritual birth certificate, the assurance of God's Spirit of adoption, confirming we are children of God. Living as reconciling ambassadors for Christ, we daily remind ourselves of our heavenly citizenship and the privileges of membership in His church, which surpass anything the world can offer.
