The Audacity to Hope
'Ready Answer' by Mike FordThe hope of a member of the Body of Christ is rooted in God and His promises, distinct from the worldly view of hope as an uncertain future desire. For God's elect, hope is not about wishing for material gains or government aid, but an expectation of good, grounded in trust and faith in God's unbreakable Word. This hope, as described by Paul in Romans 8:24-25, supports and comforts believers through life's trials, assuring them of receiving all necessary good from God and the ultimate resurrection of their bodies. Unlike the audacity to hope, which suggests boldness without assurance, the hope of believers is a conviction, not a mere preference, enabling them to hold fast without wavering, as it rests on faith in God's faithfulness. This strong hope carries and sustains them, rooted in a relationship of trust, faith, and love with God, setting them apart from worldly uncertainties.
