Believe the Lie

Sermonette by Ronny H. Graham

AI has the capacity to generate multiple parallel realities that fracture any shared sense of what is real, making events unverifiable, origins untraceable, and authoritative sources powerless to confirm truth. This development moves society beyond mere disagreement into the total collapse of a common reality, where individuals can no longer distinguish genuine occurrences from fabricated ones. Deepfakes produced at digital speed can instantly show candidates accepting bribes or calling for the end of elections, accompanied by thousands of AI-generated eyewitness accounts complete with realistic voices, backstories, and social profiles, while contradictory leaked documents allege voting manipulation. Such fabrications erode civic responsibility, harden opposing groups into antagonistic tribes, and leave citizens apathetic as institutional authority collapses and is replaced by authoritarian actors or tech platforms that position themselves as new arbiters of truth. The result is a state in which people mistrust reality itself and therefore become vulnerable to strong delusion, believing lies that suppress or attack the truth of God and devalue human life. This scenario connects directly to the warning that God will send strong delusion to those who refuse the love of the truth, allowing them to be condemned for taking pleasure in unrighteousness.
