Denying ourselves is essential to knowing Christ and gaining eternal life. It requires surrendering to God's will, crucifying self-centered desires, and actively putting to death sinful deeds. This painful struggle builds character, writes His laws in our hearts, and involves resisting sin's enticements before they grow strong. By refusing to indulge sin, we break its habitual power and offer ourselves as sacrifices to God, sharing in Christ's sufferings. This daily process of self-denial, through choices of truth and faithfulness, mirrors Christ's path of suffering and death. It prepares us for resurrection to spirit life, aligning us with His way of giving rather than getting, reflecting God's image. Also see sermons and articles about Denying Ourselves.
