Do You See God in Deuteronomy?

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh (1932-2023)

As Israel approached the Promised Land for the second time, they encountered the land of Og of Bashan, a formerly dreaded Amorite. Unlike the lands of Edom, Moab, and Ammon, which were not part of Israel's inheritance and thus did not result in war, the land of Og was part of the Promised Land that God intended for Israel. Consequently, Israel had to fight for this land, as it was part of their inheritance. The battle against Og of Bashan resulted in total destruction, with no one spared, reflecting the severity of God's judgment on the Amorites. This event was an isolated incident, demonstrating God's sovereignty and His use of Israel as an agent of His vengeance against what were perhaps the most evil nations at that time.

Balaam and the End-Time Church (Part 1)

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

King Og ruled Bashan and was defeated by Israel. The Israelites decimated Og and his people, just as they had done to King Sihon and the Amorites. This victory allowed Israel to claim the entire East Bank of the Jordan River as their territory.
