  • Exodus 20:17
    "You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

  • James 1:12-15
    Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

  • Genesis 3:1-7
    Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, "You shall not eat of every tree of the garden"?" And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, "You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die."" Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.

  • Proverbs 13:11
    Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished,
    But he who gathers by labor will increase.

  • Micah 2:2-13
    They covet fields and take them by violence,
    Also houses, and seize them.
    So they oppress a man and his house,
    A man and his inheritance. Therefore thus says the LORD:
    “ Behold, against this family I am devising disaster,
    From which you cannot remove your necks;
    Nor shall you walk haughtily,
    For this is an evil time.
    In that day one shall take up a proverb against you,
    And lament with a bitter lamentation, saying:
    ‘ We are utterly destroyed!
    He has changed the heritage of my people;
    How He has removed it from me!
    To a turncoat He has divided our fields.’”
    Therefore you will have no one to determine boundaries by lot
    In the assembly of the LORD. “ Do not prattle,” you say to those who prophesy.
    So they shall not prophesy to you;
    They shall not return insult for insult.
    You who are named the house of Jacob:
    “ Is the Spirit of the LORD restricted?
    Are these His doings?
    Do not My words do good
    To him who walks uprightly?
    “ Lately My people have risen up as an enemy—
    You pull off the robe with the garment
    From those who trust you, as they pass by,
    Like men returned from war.
    The women of My people you cast out
    From their pleasant houses;
    From their children
    You have taken away My glory forever.
    “ Arise and depart,
    For this is not your rest;
    Because it is defiled, it shall destroy,
    Yes, with utter destruction.
    If a man should walk in a false spirit
    And speak a lie, saying,
    ‘ I will prophesy to you of wine and drink,’
    Even he would be the prattler of this people. “ I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob,
    I will surely gather the remnant of Israel;
    I will put them together like sheep of the fold,
    Like a flock in the midst of their pasture;
    They shall make a loud noise because of so many people.
    The one who breaks open will come up before them;
    They will break out,
    Pass through the gate,
    And go out by it;
    Their king will pass before them,
    With the LORD at their head.”

  • Matthew 5:27-30
    "You have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not commit adultery.' But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

  • Romans 7:7-23
    What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.” But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. And the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death. For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me. Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

  • Romans 13:12-14
    The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

  • Colossians 3:5
    Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.

  • 1 Timothy 6:6-12
    Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

  • Titus 1:5-16
    For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you— if a man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of dissipation or insubordination. For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but hospitable, a lover of what is good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled, holding fast the faithful word as he has been taught, that he may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and convict those who contradict. For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision, whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole households, teaching things which they ought not, for the sake of dishonest gain. One of them, a prophet of their own, said, 'Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.' This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith, not giving heed to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from the truth. To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; but even their mind and conscience are defiled. They profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.

  • Genesis 1:26
    Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

  • Genesis 2:8-9
    The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

  • Genesis 2:16-17
    And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, 'Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

  • Genesis 3:16
    To the woman He said:
    "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception;

    Your desire shall be for your husband,
    And he shall rule over you."

  • Exodus 20:5

  • Exodus 34:14-16
    (for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods, and one of them invites you and you eat of his sacrifice, and you take of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods.

  • Leviticus 17:7

  • Leviticus 20:2-8
    “Again, you shall say to the children of Israel: ‘Whoever of the children of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell in Israel, who gives any of his descendants to Molech, he shall surely be put to death. The people of the land shall stone him with stones. I will set My face against that man, and will cut him off from his people, because he has given some of his descendants to Molech, to defile My sanctuary and profane My holy name. And if the people of the land should in any way hide their eyes from the man, when he gives some of his descendants to Molech, and they do not kill him, then I will set My face against that man and against his family; and I will cut him off from his people, and all who prostitute themselves with him to commit harlotry with Molech. ‘And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am the LORD your God. And you shall keep My statutes, and perform them: I am the LORD who sanctifies you.

  • Numbers 16:1-5
    Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men; and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, representatives of the congregation, men of renown. They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, "You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the LORD?" So when Moses heard it, he fell on his face; and he spoke to Korah and all his company, saying, "Tomorrow morning the LORD will show who is His and who is holy, and will cause him to come near to Him. That one whom He chooses He will cause to come near to Him.

  • Numbers 16:8-10
    Then Moses said to Korah, "Hear now, you sons of Levi: Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the work of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to serve them; and that He has brought you near to Himself, you and all your brethren, the sons of Levi, with you? And are you seeking the priesthood also?

  • Numbers 16:12-14
    And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, but they said, “We will not come up! Is it a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you should keep acting like a prince over us? Moreover you have not brought us into a land flowing with milk and honey, nor given us inheritance of fields and vineyards. Will you put out the eyes of these men? We will not come up!”

  • Numbers 16:31-35
    Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods. So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly. Then all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, “Lest the earth swallow us up also!” And a fire came out from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense.

  • Judges 16:4-5
    Afterward it happened that he loved a woman in the Valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. And the lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, "Entice him, and find out where his great strength lies, and by what means we may overpower him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and every one of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver."

    Proclaim it not in the streets of Ashkelon—
    Lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice,
    Lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.

  • 2 Samuel 13:1-15
    After this Absalom the son of David had a lovely sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her. Amnon was so distressed over his sister Tamar that he became sick; for she was a virgin. And it was improper for Amnon to do anything to her. But Amnon had a friend whose name was Jonadab the son of Shimeah, David’s brother. Now Jonadab was a very crafty man. And he said to him, “Why are you, the king’s son, becoming thinner day after day? Will you not tell me?”Amnon said to him, “I love Tamar, my brother Absalom’s sister.” So Jonadab said to him, “Lie down on your bed and pretend to be ill. And when your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘Please let my sister Tamar come and give me food, and prepare the food in my sight, that I may see it and eat it from her hand.’” Then Amnon lay down and pretended to be ill; and when the king came to see him, Amnon said to the king, “Please let Tamar my sister come and make a couple of cakes for me in my sight, that I may eat from her hand.” And David sent home to Tamar, saying, “Now go to your brother Amnon’s house, and prepare food for him.” So Tamar went to her brother Amnon’s house; and he was lying down. Then she took flour and kneaded it, made cakes in his sight, and baked the cakes. And she took the pan and placed them out before him, but he refused to eat. Then Amnon said, “Have everyone go out from me.” And they all went out from him. Then Amnon said to Tamar, “Bring the food into the bedroom, that I may eat from your hand.” And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them to Amnon her brother in the bedroom. Now when she had brought them to him to eat, he took hold of her and said to her, “Come, lie with me, my sister.” But she answered him, “No, my brother, do not force me, for no such thing should be done in Israel. Do not do this disgraceful thing! And I, where could I take my shame? And as for you, you would be like one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, please speak to the king; for he will not withhold me from you.” However, he would not heed her voice; and being stronger than she, he forced her and lay with her. Then Amnon hated her exceedingly, so that the hatred with which he hated her was greater than the love with which he had loved her. And Amnon said to her, "Arise, be gone!"

  • 2 Kings 17:14-16
    Nevertheless they would not hear, but stiffened their necks, like the necks of their fathers, who did not believe in the LORD their God. And they rejected His statutes and His covenant that He had made with their fathers, and His testimonies which He had testified against them; they followed idols, became idolaters, and went after the nations who were all around them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them that they should not do like them. So they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, made for themselves a molded image and two calves, made a wooden image and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

  • 2 Kings 18:3-4
    And he did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father David had done. He removed the high places and broke the sacred pillars, cut down the wooden image and broke in pieces the bronze serpent that Moses had made; for until those days the children of Israel burned incense to it, and called it Nehushtan.

    “Thus you shall speak to Hezekiah king of Judah, saying: ‘Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.” Look! You have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by utterly destroying them; and shall you be delivered? Have the gods of the nations delivered those whom my fathers have destroyed, Gozan and Haran and Rezeph, and the people of Eden who were in Telassar?

  • Proverbs 7:10-21
    And there a woman met him,
    With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart.
    She was loud and rebellious,
    Her feet would not stay at home.
    At times she was outside, at times in the open square,
    Lurking at every corner.
    So she caught him and kissed him;
    With an impudent face she said to him:
    " I have peace offerings with me;
    Today I have paid my vows.
    So I came out to meet you,
    Diligently to seek your face,
    And I have found you.
    I have spread my bed with tapestry,
    Colored coverings of Egyptian linen.
    I have perfumed my bed
    With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
    Come, let us take our fill of love until morning;
    Let us delight ourselves with love.
    For my husband is not at home;
    He has gone on a long journey;
    He has taken a bag of money with him,
    And will come home on the appointed day."
    With her enticing speech she caused him to yield,
    With her flattering lips she seduced him.

  • Isaiah 1:21-26
    How the faithful city has become a harlot!
    It was full of justice;
    Righteousness lodged in it,
    But now murderers.
    Your silver has become dross,
    Your wine mixed with water.
    Your princes are rebellious,
    And companions of thieves;
    Everyone loves bribes,
    And follows after rewards.
    They do not defend the fatherless,
    Nor does the cause of the widow come before them.
    Therefore the Lord says,
    The LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel,
    “ Ah, I will rid Myself of My adversaries,
    And take vengeance on My enemies.
    I will turn My hand against you,
    And thoroughly purge away your dross,
    And take away all your alloy.
    I will restore your judges as at the first,
    And your counselors as at the beginning.
    Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.”

  • Isaiah 2:5-8
    O house of Jacob, come and let us walk
    In the light of the LORD.
    For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob,
    Because they are filled with eastern ways;
    They are soothsayers like the Philistines,
    And they are pleased with the children of foreigners.
    Their land is also full of silver and gold,
    And there is no end to their treasures;
    Their land is also full of horses,
    And there is no end to their chariots.
    Their land is also full of idols;
    They worship the work of their own hands,
    That which their own fingers have made.

    I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
    On the farthest sides of the north;
    I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
    I will be like the Most High.'
    Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
    To the lowest depths of the Pit.
    "Those who see you will gaze at you,
    And consider you, saying:
    'Is this the man who made the earth tremble,
    Who shook kingdoms,
    Who made the world as a wilderness
    And destroyed its cities,
    Who did not open the house of his prisoners?'

  • Isaiah 23:15-18
    Now it shall come to pass in that day that Tyre will be forgotten seventy years, according to the days of one king. At the end of seventy years it will happen to Tyre as in the song of the harlot:
    “ Take a harp, go about the city,
    You forgotten harlot;
    Make sweet melody, sing many songs,
    That you may be remembered.” And it shall be, at the end of seventy years, that the LORD will deal with Tyre. She will return to her hire, and commit fornication with all the kingdoms of the world on the face of the earth. Her gain and her pay will be set apart for the LORD; it will not be treasured nor laid up, for her gain will be for those who dwell before the LORD, to eat sufficiently, and for fine clothing.

    And My thoughts than your thoughts.
    'For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,
    And do not return there,
    But water the earth,
    And make it bring forth and bud,
    That it may give seed to the sower
    And bread to the eater,
    So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
    It shall not return to Me void,
    But it shall accomplish what I please,
    And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

    They cannot bark;
    Sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.
    Yes, they are greedy dogs
    Which never have enough.
    And they are shepherds
    Who cannot understand;
    They all look to their own way,
    Every one for his own gain,
    From his own territory.

    For disaster appears out of the north,
    And great destruction.
    I have likened the daughter of Zion
    To a lovely and delicate woman.

  • Jeremiah 6:9-16
    Thus says the LORD of hosts:
    “ They shall thoroughly glean as a vine the remnant of Israel;
    As a grape-gatherer, put your hand back into the branches.”
    To whom shall I speak and give warning,
    That they may hear?
    Indeed their ear is uncircumcised,
    And they cannot give heed.
    Behold, the word of the LORD is a reproach to them;
    They have no delight in it.
    Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD.
    I am weary of holding it in.
    " I will pour it out on the children outside,
    And on the assembly of young men together;
    For even the husband shall be taken with the wife,
    The aged with him who is full of days.
    And their houses shall be turned over to others,
    Fields and wives together;
    For I will stretch out My hand
    Against the inhabitants of the land,” says the LORD.
    " Because from the least of them even to the greatest of them,
    Everyone is given to covetousness;
    And from the prophet even to the priest,
    Everyone deals falsely.
    They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly,
    Saying, "Peace, peace!"
    When there is no peace.
    Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination?
    No! They were not at all ashamed;
    Nor did they know how to blush.
    Therefore they shall fall among those who fall;
    At the time I punish them,
    They shall be cast down," says the LORD. Thus says the LORD:
    “ Stand in the ways and see,
    And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
    And walk in it;
    Then you will find rest for your souls.
    But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.

  • Jeremiah 26:4-6
    And you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the LORD: “If you will not listen to Me, to walk in My law which I have set before you, to heed the words of My servants the prophets whom I sent to you, both rising up early and sending them (but you have not heeded), then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.”’”

  • Jeremiah 26:18-19
    “Micah of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts:
    “ Zion shall be plowed like a field,
    Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins,
    And the mountain of the temple
    Like the bare hills of the forest.”’ Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah ever put him to death? Did he not fear the LORD and seek the LORD’s favor? And the LORD relented concerning the doom which He had pronounced against them. But we are doing great evil against ourselves.”

  • Ezekiel 9:1-6
    Then He called out in my hearing with a loud voice, saying, "Let those who have charge over the city draw near, each with a deadly weapon in his hand." And suddenly six men came from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with his battle-ax in his hand. One man among them was clothed with linen and had a writer's inkhorn at his side. They went in and stood beside the bronze altar. Now the glory of the God of Israel had gone up from the cherub, where it had been, to the threshold of the temple. And He called to the man clothed with linen, who had the writer's inkhorn at his side; and the LORD said to him, "Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all the abominations that are done within it." To the others He said in my hearing, "Go after him through the city and kill; do not let your eye spare, nor have any pity. Utterly slay old and young men, maidens and little children and women; but do not come near anyone on whom is the mark; and begin at My sanctuary." So they began with the elders who were before the temple.

  • Ezekiel 16:49-50
    Look, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughter had pride, fullness of food, and abundance of idleness; neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty and committed abomination before Me; therefore I took them away as I saw fit.

  • Ezekiel 23:5-7
    “ Oholah played the harlot even though she was Mine;
    And she lusted for her lovers, the neighboring Assyrians,
    Who were clothed in purple,
    Captains and rulers,
    All of them desirable young men,
    Horsemen riding on horses.
    Thus she committed her harlotry with them,
    All of them choice men of Assyria;
    And with all for whom she lusted,
    With all their idols, she defiled herself.

  • Hosea 2:5

  • Hosea 4:12

  • Amos 2:6-8
    Thus says the LORD:
    " For three transgressions of Israel, and for four,
    I will not turn away its punishment,
    Because they sell the righteous for silver,
    And the poor for a pair of sandals.
    They pant after the dust of the earth which is on the head of the poor,
    And pervert the way of the humble.
    A man and his father go in to the same girl,
    To defile My holy name.
    They lie down by every altar on clothes taken in pledge,
    And drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

    And they abhor the one who speaks uprightly.

  • Amos 5:12-13
    For I know your manifold transgressions
    And your mighty sins:
    Afflicting the just and taking bribes;
    Diverting the poor from justice at the gate.
    Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time,
    For it is an evil time.

  • Amos 6:4-7
    Who lie on beds of ivory,
    Stretch out on your couches,
    Eat lambs from the flock
    And calves from the midst of the stall;
    Who sing idly to the sound of stringed instruments,
    And invent for yourselves musical instruments like David;
    Who drink wine from bowls,
    And anoint yourselves with the best ointments,
    But are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.
    Therefore they shall now go captive as the first of the captives,
    And those who recline at banquets shall be removed.

  • Amos 8:4-6

    And make the poor of the land fail, Saying:
    "When will the New Moon be past,
    That we may sell grain?
    And the Sabbath,
    That we may trade wheat?
    Making the ephah small and the shekel large,
    falsifying the scales by deceit,
    That we may buy the poor for silver,
    And the needy for a pair of sandals—
    Even sell the bad wheat?"

  • Micah 1:1-16
    The word of the LORD that came to Micah of Moresheth in the days of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem. Hear, all you peoples!
    Listen, O earth, and all that is in it!
    Let the Lord GOD be a witness against you,
    The Lord from His holy temple.
    For behold, the LORD is coming out of His place;
    He will come down
    And tread on the high places of the earth.
    The mountains will melt under Him,
    And the valleys will split
    Like wax before the fire,
    Like waters poured down a steep place.
    All this is for the transgression of Jacob
    And for the sins of the house of Israel.
    What is the transgression of Jacob?
    Is it not Samaria?
    And what are the high places of Judah?
    Are they not Jerusalem?
    “ Therefore I will make Samaria a heap of ruins in the field,
    Places for planting a vineyard;
    I will pour down her stones into the valley,
    And I will uncover her foundations.
    All her carved images shall be beaten to pieces,
    And all her pay as a harlot shall be burned with the fire;
    All her idols I will lay desolate,
    For she gathered it from the pay of a harlot,
    And they shall return to the pay of a harlot.” Therefore I will wail and howl,
    I will go stripped and naked;
    I will make a wailing like the jackals
    And a mourning like the ostriches,
    For her wounds are incurable.
    For it has come to Judah;
    It has come to the gate of My people—
    To Jerusalem.
    Tell it not in Gath,
    Weep not at all;
    In Beth Aphrah
    Roll yourself in the dust.
    Pass by in naked shame, you inhabitant of Shaphir;
    The inhabitant of Zaanan does not go out.
    Beth Ezel mourns;
    Its place to stand is taken away from you.
    For the inhabitant of Maroth pined for good,
    But disaster came down from the LORD
    To the gate of Jerusalem.
    O inhabitant of Lachish,
    Harness the chariot to the swift steeds
    (She was the beginning of sin to the daughter of Zion),
    For the transgressions of Israel were found in you.
    Therefore you shall give presents to Moresheth Gath;
    The houses of Achzibshall be a lie to the kings of Israel.
    I will yet bring an heir to you, O inhabitant of Mareshah;
    The glory of Israel shall come to Adullam.
    Make yourself bald and cut off your hair,
    Because of your precious children;
    Enlarge your baldness like an eagle,
    For they shall go from you into captivity.

  • Micah 3:8
    But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD,
    And of justice and might,
    To declare to Jacob his transgression
    And to Israel his sin.

  • Nahum 3:1-4
    Woe to the bloody city!
    It is all full of lies and robbery.
    Its victim never departs.
    The noise of a whip
    And the noise of rattling wheels,
    Of galloping horses,
    Of clattering chariots!
    Horsemen charge with bright sword and glittering spear.
    There is a multitude of slain,
    A great number of bodies,
    Countless corpses—
    They stumble over the corpses—
    Because of the multitude of harlotries of the seductive harlot,
    The mistress of sorceries,
    Who sells nations through her harlotries,
    And families through her sorceries.

  • Habakkuk 1:1-17
    The burden which the prophet Habakkuk saw. O LORD, how long shall I cry,
    And You will not hear?
    Even cry out to You, "Violence!"
    And You will not save.
    Why do You show me iniquity,
    And cause me to see trouble?
    For plundering and violence are before me;
    There is strife, and contention arises.
    Therefore the law is powerless,
    And justice never goes forth.
    For the wicked surround the righteous;
    Therefore perverse judgment proceeds. "Look among the nations and watch—
    Be utterly astounded!
    For I will work a work in your days
    Which you would not believe, though it were told you.
    For indeed I am raising up the Chaldeans,
    A bitter and hasty nation
    Which marches through the breadth of the earth,
    To possess dwelling places that are not theirs.
    They are terrible and dreadful;
    Their judgment and their dignity proceed from themselves.
    Their horses also are swifter than leopards,
    And more fierce than evening wolves.
    Their chargers charge ahead;
    Their cavalry comes from afar;
    They fly as the eagle that hastens to eat.
    "They all come for violence;
    Their faces are set like the east wind.
    They gather captives like sand.
    They scoff at kings,
    And princes are scorned by them.
    They deride every stronghold,
    For they heap up earthen mounds and seize it.
    Then his mind changes, and he transgresses;
    He commits offense,
    Ascribing this power to his god." Are You not from everlasting,
    O LORD my God, my Holy One?
    We shall not die.
    O LORD, You have appointed them for judgment;
    O Rock, You have marked them for correction.
    You are of purer eyes than to behold evil,
    And cannot look on wickedness.
    Why do You look on those who deal treacherously,
    And hold Your tongue when the wicked devours
    A person more righteous than he?
    Why do You make men like fish of the sea,
    Like creeping things that have no ruler over them?
    They take up all of them with a hook,
    They catch them in their net,
    And gather them in their dragnet.
    Therefore they rejoice and are glad.
    Therefore they sacrifice to their net,
    And burn incense to their dragnet;
    Because by them their share is sumptuous
    And their food plentiful.
    Shall they therefore empty their net,
    And continue to slay nations without pity?

  • Habakkuk 2:2-4
    Then the LORD answered me and said:
    “ Write the vision
    And make it plain on tablets,
    That he may run who reads it.
    For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
    But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
    Though it tarries, wait for it;
    Because it will surely come,
    It will not tarry.
    "Behold the proud,
    His soul is not upright in him;
    But the just shall live by his faith.

  • Habakkuk 2:6-20
    “ Will not all these take up a proverb against him,
    And a taunting riddle against him, and say,
    ‘ Woe to him who increases
    What is not his—how long?
    And to him who loads himself with many pledges’?
    Will not your creditors rise up suddenly?
    Will they not awaken who oppress you?
    And you will become their booty.
    Because you have plundered many nations,
    All the remnant of the people shall plunder you,
    Because of men's blood
    And the violence of the land and the city,
    And of all who dwell in it.
    "Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house,
    That he may set his nest on high,
    That he may be delivered from the power of disaster!
    You give shameful counsel to your house,
    Cutting off many peoples,
    And sin against your soul.
    For the stone will cry out from the wall,
    And the beam from the timbers will answer it.
    "Woe to him who builds a town with bloodshed,
    Who establishes a city by iniquity!
    Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts
    That the peoples labor to feed the fire,
    And nations weary themselves in vain?
    For the earth will be filled
    With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD,
    As the waters cover the sea.
    "Woe to him who gives drink to his neighbor,
    Pressinghim to your bottle,
    Even to make him drunk,
    That you may look on his nakedness!
    You are filled with shame instead of glory.
    You also—drink!
    And be exposed as uncircumcised!
    The cup of the LORD’s right hand will be turned against you,
    And utter shame will be on your glory.
    For the violence done to Lebanon will cover you,
    And the plunder of beasts which made them afraid,
    Because of men's blood
    And the violence of the land and the city,
    And of all who dwell in it.
    "What profit is the image, that its maker should carve it,
    The molded image, a teacher of lies,
    That the maker of its mold should trust in it,
    To make mute idols?
    Woe to him who says to wood, 'Awake!'
    To silent stone, 'Arise! It shall teach!'
    Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver,
    Yet in it there is no breath at all.
    "But the LORD is in His holy temple.
    Let all the earth keep silence before Him."

  • Habakkuk 3:2

  • Habakkuk 3:17-19
    Though the fig tree may not blossom,
    Nor fruit be on the vines;
    Though the labor of the olive may fail,
    And the fields yield no food;
    Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
    And there be no herd in the stalls—
    Yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
    I will joy in the God of my salvation.
    The LORD God is my strength;
    He will make my feet like deer’s feet,
    And He will make me walk on my high hills. To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.

  • Matthew 4:1-10
    Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." But He answered and said, "It is written, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."" Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
    " He shall give His angels charge over you," and,
    " In their hands they shall bear you up,
    Lest you dash your foot against a stone."" Jesus said to him, "It is written again, "You shall not tempt the LORD your God."" Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me." Then Jesus said to him, "Away with you, Satan! For it is written, "You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve.""

These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man."

  • Matthew 16:24-28
    Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works. Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.'

All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, "Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me." "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?" And the King will answer and say to them, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me." "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, "Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me." "Then they also will answer Him, saying, "Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?" Then He will answer them, saying, "Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me." And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."

Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

  • 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
    Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.

  • 1 Corinthians 15:58
    Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

  • 2 Corinthians 5:7
    For we walk by faith, not by sight.

  • Galatians 3:11
    But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith."

  • Galatians 6:9
    And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

  • Galatians 6:16
    And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

  • Ephesians 2:1-3
    And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.

  • Ephesians 5:3
    But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

  • Ephesians 5:5
    For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

  • Philippians 1:6
    being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

  • Philippians 4:8
    Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

  • Philippians 4:11
    Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:

  • Colossians 2:6-10
    As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

  • 1 Timothy 2:8-10
    I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting; in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.

  • 1 Timothy 4:1-5
    Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

  • 2 Timothy 2:22
    Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

  • 2 Timothy 4:2-4
    Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

  • Hebrews 3:12
    Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;

  • Hebrews 4:12-13
    For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

  • Hebrews 8:6-7
    But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second.

  • Hebrews 10:35-39
    Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:
    "For yet a little while,
    And He who is coming will come and will not tarry.
    Now the just shall live by faith;
    But if anyone draws back,
    My soul has no pleasure in him." But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

  • Hebrews 12:1-2
    Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

  • Hebrews 12:11-13
    Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. Therefore strengthen the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees, and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be dislocated, but rather be healed.

  • Hebrews 12:18
    For you have not come to the mountain that may be touched and that burned with fire, and to blackness and darkness and tempest,

  • Hebrews 12:25
    See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven,

  • Hebrews 12:28-29
    Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.

  • Hebrews 13:5
    Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

  • James 1:2
    My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials,

  • 1 Peter 5:8
    Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

  • 2 Peter 3:16
    as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.

  • 1 John 2:12-17
    I write to you, little children, Because your sins are forgiven you for His name's sake.
    I write to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
    I write to you, young men, Because you have overcome the wicked one.
    I write to you, little children, Because you have known the Father.
    I have written to you, fathers, Because you have known Him who is from the beginning.
    I have written to you, young men, Because you are strong, and the word of God abides in you, And you have overcome the wicked one. Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

  • Jude 1:3-4
    Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Jude 1:8
    Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries.

  • Jude 1:10
    But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves.

  • Jude 1:16-21
    These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

  • Revelation 11:15-18
    Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, 'The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!' And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying:
    ' We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty,
    The One who is and who was and who is to come,
    Because You have taken Your great power and reigned.
    The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come,
    And the time of the dead, that they should be judged,
    And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints,
    And those who fear Your name, small and great,
    And should destroy those who destroy the earth."

  • Revelation 18:7
    In the measure that she glorified herself and lived luxuriously, in the same measure give her torment and sorrow; for she says in her heart, "I sit as queen, and am no widow, and will not see sorrow."
