And his soul succulent food. His flesh wastes away from sight,
And his bones stick out which once were not seen. Yes, his soul draws near the Pit,
And his life to the executioners. “If there is a messenger for him,
A mediator, one among a thousand,
To show man His uprightness, Then He is gracious to him, and says,
‘ Deliver him from going down to the Pit;
I have found a ransom’; His flesh shall be young like a child’s,
He shall return to the days of his youth. He shall pray to God, and He will delight in him,
He shall see His face with joy,
For He restores to man His righteousness. Then he looks at men and says,
‘I have sinned, and perverted what was right,
And it did not profit me.’ He will redeem his soul from going down to the Pit,
And his life shall see the light. “ Behold, God works all these things,
Twice, in fact, three times with a man, To bring back his soul from the Pit,
That he may be enlightened with the light of life.

This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, who follow the dictates of their hearts, and walk after other gods to serve them and worship them, shall be just like this sash which is profitable for nothing. For as the sash clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to Me,’ says the LORD, ‘that they may become My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’ “Therefore you shall speak to them this word: ‘Thus says the LORD God of Israel: “Every bottle shall be filled with wine.”’ “And they will say to you, ‘Do we not certainly know that every bottle will be filled with wine?’ “Then you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the LORD: “Behold, I will fill all the inhabitants of this land—even the kings who sit on David’s throne, the priests, the prophets, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem—with drunkenness! And I will dash them one against another, even the fathers and the sons together,” says the LORD. “I will not pity nor spare nor have mercy, but will destroy them.”’” Hear and give ear:
Do not be proud,
For the LORD has spoken.
Give glory to the LORD your God
Before He causes darkness,
And before your feet stumble
On the dark mountains,
And while you are looking for light,
He turns it into the shadow of death
And makes it dense darkness.
But if you will not hear it,
My soul will weep in secret for your pride;
My eyes will weep bitterly
And run down with tears,
Because the LORD's flock has been taken captive.
Say to the king and to the queen mother,
' Humble yourselves;
Sit down,
For your rule shall collapse, the crown of your glory.'

this is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king: They shall drive you from men, your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make you eat grass like oxen. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity." All this came upon King Nebuchadnezzar. At the end of the twelve months he was walking about the royal palace of Babylon. The king spoke, saying, "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?" While the word was still in the king's mouth, a voice fell from heaven: "King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you!
