The Bible shows three separate judgments: the judgment that was, the judgment that is, and the judgment that is to come. Called-out Christians are spared the judgment of the world (the judgment that was), but must engage in self-examination and self—judgment (the judgment that is) instead of self-justification. If we successfully, with the help of God's Spirit, judge ourselves now, we will eventually stand before the judgment seat of Christ (the judgment to come), where our works will be thoroughly scrutinized or judged.
