The greatest armament producers on the face of the earth (America, Britain, Russia, China, and France) could put an end to all famine and starvation if they would use their common sense reallocating resources for food production instead of armaments. God is the author of common sense, giving us warnings and consequences of our aberrant allocations of resources. Without relying upon God, we become slaves of our own lusts and desires, trusting in our own resources. God did not call people wise in their own eyes, referring to people making idols of themselves. Nabal epitomizes the stupid man who lacks common sense, while his wife Abigail exemplified common sense and diplomacy. Common sense is right because: (1) it is not often wrong, (2) it protects us from routine and rote thinking, and (3) shield us from traditional prejudice. Common sense may not allow ourselves to do great things, but it prevents us from making great mistakes. We need to emulate the ducks who while in formation change leaders when the leader gets tired.
