No evidence of recession seems to be apparent in Chelsea Clinton's wedding. According to the Associated Press, the total expenses may range from $3,000,000 to $5,000,000. George Bush married his daughter off at a cost of $100,000—1/30 of the cost of this extravaganza. Chelsea's dress, priced at $20,000, cost more than the entire cost of most weddings, as well as the entire annual salary of some Americans. Astoundingly, the cake also cost $20,000. The flowers cost $250,000 while the food cost $740,000. The entertainment cost $40,000. Because Hillary and Bill Clinton were involved in the wedding, the American taxpayer will pick up part of the tab for Secret Service expenses. When 22% of the population is under-employed, the display of opulence at the Chelsea Clinton wedding (probably an attempt to keep Bill and Hillary's name in front of the public) seems highly inappropriate.
