Human tastes have become perverted as a result of Satan broadcasting his spirit and people following its promptings. Tastes must be converted to enjoy the benefits God intends. The Israelites wanted sharper flavors than the manna God supplied, seeking something more stimulating and becoming unwilling to remain content. The world possesses a tremendous ability to pervert spiritual taste buds through sights, sounds, colors, amusements, and entertainments, which function like spices and require control. These perversions lead to spectacle, exploitation, immodesty, avoidance of maturity, and diminished respect for life, arising from forsaking the principles of God's Word.

Something Is Wrong

CGG Weekly by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

Americans try to outdo the ancient Romans for spectacle and perversion due to the hubris that comes from money, power, and boredom. The most popular television shows and movies make fun of others' misfortunes through utter exploitation of the unfortunate. This practice exposes an attitude of contempt and pride as a product of individualism taken to an extreme. Homosexuals hold a disproportionate share of positions of power in government, education, and entertainment because the majority has capitulated to their demands. Young girls and women expose themselves in public by leaving virtually nothing to the imagination. This public undressing stems from an over-emphasis on self-esteem at the expense of teaching propriety, standards, and self-discipline. Young men refuse to grow up and take on the responsibilities of adulthood by living for parties, sports, women, drugs, and good times. This avoidance of maturity has its source in a failure to instill discipline and proper ambition in boys. More than a million mothers agree to let a doctor kill their unborn babies from a diminished respect for life and a hyper-selfishness akin to extreme narcissism. These issues arise from forsaking the universally applicable principles of God's Word. If you know these things, happy are you if you do them.
