God's Non-Transmittable Attributes (Part Three): Omniscience
Bible Study by Martin G. CollinsGod's thoughts are wholly informed by His perfect knowledge and character, rendering Him unconditionally and eternally trustworthy. He fully knows Himself and all things, seen and unseen, physical and spiritual, across past, present, and future. He perceives everything, being thoroughly and intimately acquainted with His entire creation, including every star and each individual. No place exists where anything can be hidden from Him, as He understands desires, intentions, motivations, and the very nature behind every decision. Nothing escapes His senses, for He observes the entire spectrum of light and energy, hears the whole range of sound, and searches even the most secretive thoughts with His Spirit. He knows each person more thoroughly than they know themselves, making the prediction of future actions effortless to His immeasurable intellect. Though sovereign over all creation and declaring the end from the beginning, His omniscience does not always mean He knows every decision before it is made, as He prioritizes the development of righteous character in His children. He prepares scenarios to facilitate and measure growth, requiring the exercise of free will in choices that, by His flawless design, remain unpredictable. Yet, He retains the right to act or intervene in history to accomplish His ends while often restraining Himself from controlling free will. His understanding is unsearchable, and as the everlasting Creator, He neither faints nor grows weary.
