When listening to lyrics of a popular song on the radio, we may latch onto a phrase which intrigues us deeply but tune out the context of the rest of the song. A similar misstep happens to some individuals, when they take the apostle Paul's words out of context, a malady warned about by the apostle Peter, who declares, "our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, as also in his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the scriptures" (II Peter 3:14-18). Sadly, the entire Protestant community, latching onto passages which seem to say that the law was done away by faith (cancelling that onerous, burdensome "Jewish" Sabbath), never proceed to the lines in Romans 3:31 - Do we make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.
