Members of the Boomer generation expressed pride in being different from parents, having the gumption to question authority and be open to new ideas. Likewise, Gen X and Gen Z embrace change and revolution, "looking ahead" so to speak, using technology to usher in "progress," not realizing that not all innovations are genuinely beneficial. Mankind's futile efforts to improve life have been relatively superficial because the real cause of human failure (our carnal human nature) has been ignored. Palliative measures to improve society's problems resemble taking an aspirin for a toothache (ignoring the decay and abscesses which are the real cause). All descendants of Adam and Eve (except for Jesus Christ) have followed the same course, turning down a corrupt, perverse path of the knowledge of good and evil. Isaiah 30:9 describes Adam and Eve's sin written large. Israel desired to imitate the perverse nations around them, seeking an easier way to achieve their objectives, have hopelessly entwined themselves in the cords of their own sins. The definition of perversity-turning aside from the straight and narrow path prescribed by God—appears 16 times in the Bible, 14 times in Proverbs. Change or open-mindedness without wisdom (motivated by God's Holy Spirit) is foolish and perverted, as one can see by the horrendous fruits of the Boomer's open-minded permissiveness. Only by seeking wisdom, remaining faithful to God's instructions, and not deviating to the right or left can we find safety (Proverbs 1:33; 2:10-11, Isaiah 30: 20-21).
