Each holy day or set of holy days have features that distinguish them from one another. The key feature of the Day of Atonement is afflicting our souls for 24 hours, reminding us that it is God Who sustains us, and that without God's care, we would wither like grass. The Feast of Tabernacles is a time of rejoicing, teaching us that we are the most blessed people on the face of the earth. The Eighth Day, a time of new beginnings, enlightens us to our future responsibility of judging angels. The Feast of Trumpets depicts a time when angelic beings sound an alarm, warning God's saints to prepare to put themselves under His sovereign rule. It is also a somber reminder not to get complacent in our calling, foolishly believing the scoffers (both outside and inside the church) who claim that the seventh trump has already sounded, making the return of Christ less important to their salvation, glomming onto the hideous satanic lie to Mother Eve, "You will not surely die." God has shown us His truth and has given to His people this day to remember the things that have happened and of things yet to come
