There are two conditioning approaches in the scientific community, Classical Conditioning, developed by Ivan Pavlov, which involves pairing a stimulus which always elicits a response with a neutral stimulus until the neutral stimulus elicits the response unaided, and Operant Conditioning, developed by BF Skinner, which involves pairing a behavior, like pressing a lever, with a reward like food associated with a desired behavior of waiting or developing patience. Gradually, the animal begins to figure out that making the right choice leads to rewards. Similarly, when we start learning God's truth, it begins to build a foundation of specific behaviors that we might not even realize is happening. Consider how excited God must get when He watches His children change their behavior because of a desire to please the One who provides. At the very core of the purpose for the creation is God's desire to have a strong relationship with His children. God is always observing, testing our growth, our choices, and our behavior. He does not want us to fail, so He adjusts our path whenever necessary. Consequently, He challenges us, testing us with each step of growth. Then He adds more complex details of His plan to continue building confidence and faith. We return annually to the Feast of Tabernacles (and other holy days) to be rejuvenated by the truth of God's masterplan for Creation.
