'Done Away' Is Incorrect
Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh (1932-2023)In the book of Ezekiel, particularly from chapters 36 through 48, a significant prophecy unfolds concerning the future of Israel, including the warfare involving Gog and Magog. These events are clearly set to occur after Christ's return, during a time when God regathers and resettles Israel from the various regions where He had previously scattered them. As the narrative progresses through Ezekiel, a movement of time toward a conclusion becomes evident, especially starting in chapter 36. In chapters 38 and 39, the prophecy details a conflict where Gog and Magog attempt to invade Israel, perceiving it as defenseless with unwalled villages. However, God intervenes and fights for Israel, ensuring their protection and restoration. This warfare and the subsequent divine intervention underscore that certain events and practices, often thought to be obsolete, may resurface within God's overarching purpose.
Hebrews: Its Background (Part Ten)
Sermon by John W. RitenbaughIn the prophecy of Ezekiel chapters 37 through 48, following the vision of the Valley of Dry Bones, there is a significant focus on future events after Christ's return. These chapters detail the regathering and resettling of Israel from the areas where God previously scattered them. Within this context, the warfare involving Gog and Magog is foretold, occurring after Christ's return. Even after Gog and Magog are defeated, there remain Israelitish people living in other nations, away from the land of Israel. God promises to regather all of them into one central place, highlighting His comprehensive plan for restoration and judgment as part of the broader narrative of Israel's future.
The Millennium Sabbath
Feast of Tabernacles Sermon by Clyde FinkleaBefore the peace and rest of the millennial Sabbath can be ushered in by Jesus Christ, a significant conflict must occur. Gog, identified as a chief prince of the land of Magog, is described as a key figure in this battle. This prince, likely a high-ranking demon under satan, gathers armies to fight against Christ at His return. In Ezekiel 38 and 39, Gog is portrayed as leading a vast army that God Himself will destroy, leaving their bodies to be consumed by ravenous birds and beasts. This event appears to align with the battle described in Revelation 19, where the beast and its armies suffer a similar fate, suggesting that Gog may be associated with the beast. There is confusion regarding the timing of Gog's actions, whether this conflict occurs before or after the Millennium. Revelation 19 and Ezekiel 39 indicate that Gog, the prince of Magog, rises against Christ at His coming. Additionally, Gog is referenced in the context of a later battle after the thousand years, when armies are again gathered against Jerusalem, leading to God's final judgment. Historically, there is no record of Gog and Magog, supporting the notion that they may represent spiritual entities rather than human figures or nations.
A Millennium of Preparation
Feast of Tabernacles Sermon by Richard T. RitenbaughIn the unfolding of God's grand plan, as revealed in Revelation 20:7-9, a significant event occurs at the conclusion of the thousand-year reign of Christ, known as the Millennium. When these thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth, identified as Gog and Magog. He will gather them together for battle, their number as vast as the sand of the sea. They will advance across the breadth of the earth, surrounding the camp of the saints and the beloved city. However, God's intervention will be swift and decisive, as fire will come down from heaven and devour them, marking the end of this rebellion and affirming His ultimate authority over all creation.
The Eighth Day (2019)
Sermonette byThe Eight Day (or Last Great Day) has little written about it, but the patterns of Scripture reveal much about the abundance of this holy day.
Why Must Satan Be Released?
'Prophecy Watch' by David C. GrabbeThe scriptural references to Gog, identified as the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, suggest a possible demonic entity, as noted in Ezekiel 38:2-3 and 39:1, and further connected to Revelation 20:8. This figure is among the spiritual rulers and powers in the heavens, akin to other kings and princes mentioned in Scripture, who will be shut up in prison for a long time before their punishment, as described in Isaiah 24:22. Their binding serves as a prelude to eventual judgment, paralleling the binding of Satan during the Millennium to protect the nations from deception. After the Millennium, when Satan is released, the connection to Gog and Magog in Revelation 20:8 highlights a final rebellion where these forces will play a role in deceiving the nations, demonstrating the persistent nature of opposition to God's government.

A Threat in Central Asia
CGG Weekly by Richard T. RitenbaughFrom a biblical perspective, the emergence of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) may carry significant implications. Ezekiel 38 presents the notable Gog and Magog prophecy, which describes a formidable army from the East. The nations involved in the SCO align closely with those listed in Ezekiel 38:2-6. Gog, Magog, Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal are associated with Russia. Persia corresponds to modern Iran. Ethiopia and Libya, referred to as Cush and Put in Hebrew, had Eastern branches that settled in regions including the Stans and India. Gomer likely points to China, while Togarmah probably indicates Mongolia and some Siberian tribes. Thus, an Eastern bloc led by a resurgent Russia, encompassing nations with vast populations, nuclear capabilities, modern armies, and substantial energy resources, represents a powerful force. Monitoring the developments of the SCO in the coming years would be prudent.
