Peace, Peace (Part One): Peace with God

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

God expresses frustration that the people of Judah have uncircumcised ears, rendering them unable to hear warnings or give heed to His word, which has become a reproach to them with no delight found in it. This closed condition means they cannot respond to calls for repentance despite repeated prophetic messages, leading instead to widespread covetousness, deceit, and idolatry from the least to the greatest, including among priests and prophets. Those leaders compound the problem by offering superficial assurances of peace when none exists, failing to deliver honest evaluations of impending wrath or to arouse the people toward genuine turning back to God. The uncircumcised ears thus prevent recognition of evident signs of turmoil and coming judgment, resulting in the entire nation facing divine fury, destruction of homes and families, and casting down at the time of punishment. This same pattern of closed ears appears in modern contexts where clergy across nations promote false peace through political or unrestrained living rather than repentance and obedience to God's law. Such deafness sustains an environment of sin that makes true peace impossible, whether among nations, neighbors, or within individuals, as iniquities separate people from God and produce crooked paths devoid of justice or peace. Only through heeding the call to come out of such ways, accepting Christ's redemptive work that removes sin's guilt, and seeking the peace He provides can ears be opened to grow in righteousness.

Born Again (Part 3)

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh (1932-2023)

We have been adopted into the family of God and have become members of God's Kingdom. The Kingdom is here in the same way the church is a spiritual entity.
