Do You Desire the Day of the Lord?
'Prophecy Watch' by David C. GrabbeThe Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, with the heavens passing away with a great noise and the elements melting with fervent heat, as both the earth and its works are burned up. This day, a period of judgment just before Jesus Christ's return, will not be a time of light for many, but a time of darkness. God, through the prophet Amos, pronounces a woe against those who assume His intervention will be in their favor, warning that His judgment will overtake them personally and painfully. The Israelites of old mistook God's silence for approval, believing the Day of the Lord would bring them glory, yet it delivered shame and defeat instead. Similarly, in the letter to Laodicea, Christ reveals that many in the church, unaware of their wretched spiritual state, will be shocked by His judgment, as the Day of the Lord becomes darkness for those who assume divine favor without recognizing their true condition. This day will come unexpectedly, a day of wrath on all that is cherished by those focused on material things, revealing the stark contrast between human assumption and divine reality.
