Those Best Prepared to Suffer with Him

Sermon by Mark Schindler

Brethren, as we walk in faith behind Jesus Christ, facing the trials and tribulations of this divisive world, we must remember that we are never alone. Our unity is maintained through our ever-increasing relationship with Him, who will hold on to us if we hold on to Him. Despite the reinvigorated spirit of unity and purpose that God's holy days provide, the daily grind of life can wear us down if we forget why God has revealed His plan to us. We must persevere, trusting that all things work for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose, even when physical difficulties or unexpected circumstances arise during times like the Feast of Tabernacles. In facing suffering, we look to Jesus Christ as our example. Unlike others who wavered, He prayed three times in the face of the most heinous death, submitting to His Father's will, saying, "Not My will, but Your will be done." He brought with Him three disciples who had witnessed His glory, that they might also witness His agony and be prepared to suffer with Him. Those best prepared to suffer with Christ are those who, by faith, have beheld His glory through God's holy days and messages. We must stay alert and awake, ensuring our actions align with God's will, no matter the cost. As we endure trials and suffering, remembering His glory equips us to continue this journey, assured that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory to be revealed in us. If God is for us, who can be against us?
