Struggling to Coexist
'WorldWatch' by Joseph B. BaitySince its founding, the United States has often faced disagreement, debate, and division among its leaders and their constituents. Though many disagreements have sparked impassioned debates over the years, rarely has the vitriol between opposing sides reached the level seen in recent times. Fast-forward to 2026, and once again America finds itself in the midst of great civil turmoil. Though the issues and debates are manifold, they seem designed purely for division, with no easy compromise or resolution in sight. The radical elements on either side of a given debate are less concerned with the necessary struggle to coexist than with promoting a stiffer refusal to coexist at all. Ultimately, the lines are drawn today primarily between Nationalists and Globalists. Nationalists desire a more traditional approach to governance, living within well-defined, restricted borders with well-defined laws and values, private property ownership, and a commitment to maintaining American sovereignty. On the other hand, Globalists wish to eliminate or blur the significance of national and state borders to promote unfettered immigration and the near elimination of all private property. For many decades, but particularly from 2021 through 2024, America suffered an unsustainable influx of illegal immigrants, with an estimated eleven to twenty million persons crossing the southern border during those four years alone. The current White House is determined to deport as many of these illegal immigrants as possible and to investigate alleged fraud within the immigration industry, increasing animosity from the opposition while allies demand that it stay the course. Joining the fray are the American people, with monies and political backing pouring in from supporters on both sides to ensure a long-lasting clash. Fierce clashes are witnessed on America's streets between the United States Border Patrol (CBP) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on one side, and illegal immigrants and their political and civilian allies on the other. Many states and municipalities have declared themselves as sanctuaries to illegal immigrants, obstructing ICE's deportation efforts in direct opposition to the current administration's edicts. The political vitriol is deafening, with lawsuits piling up and calls for violent upheaval increasing. State and federal courts and legislatures are wrestling with what some call the greatest Constitutional crisis since the Civil War. Some observers wonder if America is approaching a point of no return on the way to another bloody conflict, while others question whether Americans possess the will for a protracted and bloody conflict to resolve their political differences or if cooler heads will prevail.

Proverbs 31 and the Wife of Christ (Part Four)
Sermon by Mark SchindlerIn these divisive and difficult times, we must recognize the profound national division that surrounds us, marked by bickering and fighting among men who believe their way is the only right way. This division, intensified by constant news cycles and social media, pressures us to take sides, yet all such sides stand contrary to the foundation of God's word. As we prepare for the return of Jesus Christ, we must not get consumed by what we might consider righteousness but is, in reality, built on the minds of men rather than God's truth. Reflecting on this country's history, from the bicentennial in 1976 to the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, we see a nation blessed by God yet increasingly divided over the years. Despite periods of relief, the current division has grown more intense, pulling us away from our focus on God's sovereignty. We live in a society where choices made in abandonment of God's word have led to immense suffering, such as the 620,000 deaths in the Civil War, a direct result of breaking God's law. The founding of the United States in rebellion against King George III, under the cry of no taxation without representation, exemplifies a choice against God's instruction not to rebel. Though God has worked out His plan through these events, the pain and suffering of wars and division might have been avoided had the colonists remained under the authority of a king placed by God. We must not allow affection for this nation to involve us in a world we are called out of, ensuring our choices align with God's word to prepare as Christ's perfected helpmate at His return.
