A Cure for News Depression
Commentary by John W. Ritenbaugh (1932-2023)Brethren, the overwhelming amount of depressing news that surrounds us must be counterbalanced with good news, positive news, and information of beauty that is edifying and hopeful. There is only one absolutely sure source of this counterbalance of good, and that is God's Word. We have to believe what He says, for without belief, it does no good. The words that I speak to you, as found in Scripture, point to and support life, acting as a spirit of hope against the spirit of death and depression that pervades much of the news we encounter. By willingly spending more time putting this good into our minds, we can achieve a better balance and attitude.
The True Gospel
Bible Study by Richard T. RitenbaughJesus Himself preached the gospel of the Kingdom of God, proclaiming the good news that God's Kingdom would come and restore all things. The gospel explains not only that it is coming, but also how we can be a part of it. That is great news! This message originated in God, was proclaimed by His Son, and tells of the coming rule of God and our part in it. God's wonderful offer of grace and salvation is also part of this gospel of the Kingdom. The gospel of the Kingdom is for today, preached not only when we proclaim that Jesus Christ will return soon to establish His government upon this earth, but also when we teach both believers and unbelievers how to live God's way of life. That is truly good news!
Is the Christian Required To Do Works? (Part Five)
'Personal' from John W. RitenbaughThe gospel of Jesus Christ, preached for nearly two thousand years, carries the good news of the Kingdom of God as the ultimate hope for mankind. Jesus Himself came as a Messenger from the Father, proclaiming not primarily about Himself, but about the Kingdom that the Father ordained to be announced on earth. As He declared in Galilee, the time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, urging all to repent and believe in this gospel. His mission, as He stated, was to preach the Kingdom of God to every city, a task He continued even in the final days before His ascension, speaking of things pertaining to the Kingdom. This good news was not His alone to share; He charged His disciples to preach the Kingdom of God, and they obeyed, spreading the message far and wide. Others, like the evangelist Philip, joined in proclaiming the things concerning the Kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ. Even the apostle Paul, throughout his ministry and until the end of his life, preached the Kingdom of God with unwavering confidence. This gospel reveals that the Kingdom will be established on earth, an everlasting realm where Christ will reign as King, and those resurrected at His return will rule alongside Him over the earth's peoples.
What Is the Book of Revelation?

Hebrews (Part Four)
Sermon/Bible Study by John W. RitenbaughWe must emulate Christ, who learned through suffering, preparing Himself for His role as High Priest. Giving in alienates us from the fellowship with God.
The True Gospel (Part 2)
CGG Weekly by Richard T. RitenbaughJesus' message is certainly encouraging, but the adjective 'good has its roots in the word 'god,' suggesting that Jesus' message also possesses a moral quality.
