The Miracles of Jesus Christ: Healing a Woman With a Flow of Blood

Bible Study by Martin G. Collins

Jesus was on his way to heal Jairus' daughter when a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years touched the fringe of his garment. She believed that just touching his clothes would heal her. Immediately, her bleeding stopped, and she felt in her body that she was healed. Jesus, realizing power had gone out from him, asked who had touched him. The woman, trembling and fearful, came forward and told the truth. Jesus said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease."

God Heals Today

Sermonette by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

In Matthew 9:20-22, a woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for twelve years approached Jesus from behind and touched the hem of His garment, believing that if she could just touch it, she would be made well. Jesus turned to her and said, Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well. From that hour, the woman was healed. This account illustrates the power of faith in receiving healing, showing that her belief in Jesus' ability to heal brought about her restoration.

Faith and Healing (Part Three)

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh

In the account of healing a woman with a flow of blood, as recorded in Mark 5 and Luke 8:43, we see a profound demonstration of faith and the power of Jesus Christ. This woman, afflicted with an incurable condition according to the medical knowledge of her time, had sought help from many physicians without success. Her persistent search for healing through human means had left her without relief, yet she turned to Jesus with unwavering trust. Upon touching His garment, she was immediately healed, showcasing that faith in Him surpasses the limitations of human skill. Jesus does not deny the role of physicians in this narrative, nor does He suggest that seeking their help is a violation of faith in God. Instead, He illustrates that trusting in God's power is far superior to relying solely on human expertise. He acknowledges that the sick need a physician, drawing a parallel between physical and spiritual needs. Just as those who are physically ill may seek help from knowledgeable individuals, so too do the spiritually sick require the guidance of the great spiritual Physician. This teaching affirms that faith and the use of medical counsel are not mutually exclusive, emphasizing that seeking God first remains paramount, as exemplified by this woman's ultimate healing through Christ.

Jesus, Jairus, the Woman, and Faith

'Ready Answer' by Ted E. Bowling

During the journey to Jairus' home to heal his dying daughter, Jesus Christ and Jairus navigated through a dense crowd that had gathered to see Him. Amidst this throng, a woman who had suffered from a flow of blood for twelve years approached Jesus. She had exhausted all her resources seeking a cure, yet remained afflicted and alone, a stark contrast to Jairus, a respected leader in the community. Despite her lack of standing, she believed that merely touching Jesus' garment would heal her. As she did so, Jesus felt power go out from Him and stopped to identify who had touched Him, delaying the urgent mission to Jairus' house. He addressed the woman as Daughter, affirming her faith, and she was healed instantly. This act of compassion showed that Jesus holds no regard for social status, offering healing to both the influential and the outcast. The parallel between the twelve years of the woman's suffering and the age of Jairus' daughter underscores the shared theme of hope and faith in Jesus as their only solution, demonstrating His power to heal across all divides.

Faith in the Healer

Sermon by Richard T. Ritenbaugh

We must establish an iron clad trust in God for spiritual matters, including healing, rather than having a misguided trust in self or other human beings.

Jairus

Sermonette by Ted E. Bowling

Jairus, in effect, put his livelihood and status on the line, willing to give up everything for faith in the Son of God. Jairus' faith was tested twice.

Matthew (Part Fourteen)

Sermon/Bible Study by John W. Ritenbaugh

Sin causes disease, but the person who becomes sick does not necessarily commit the sin. Because God alone can forgive sin, God alone can heal.

Another View of Faith

Sermonette by James Beaubelle

Without the right relationship with God, we cannot have the evidence of things not seen. But with it, we can focus on what cannot be seen by most of mankind.

Our Part in God's Will

Sermonette by Austin Del Castillo

While it is good to acknowledge God's will in our prayers and know that His decisions will stand, we must also remember that God's mind can be changed.
