Called Their Name Adam

Sermon by Mark Schindler

From the beginning, God created Adam, both man and woman, in Their image and likeness to be perfect partners working together in harmony and peace within their own responsibilities. God called their name Adam, signifying a productive and joyful partnership, mirroring the relationship within the God Family, before sin entered the picture. In that very good condition, Adam should have found perfect peace and contentment in a truly productive partnership of man and woman, just as the Word and the Father exist in unity. However, when sin entered, Adam, though in the image of God, was physical, and the harmony of two distinct beings became perverted, leading to a curse that introduced enmity between man and woman. This curse disrupted the otherwise harmonious relationship intended by God, and now, in a world under this curse, we find ourselves subject to the pulls of our carnal nature. Yet, through Jesus Christ and His Holy Spirit working in us, we have the opportunity to overcome this divisiveness, striving to return to the perfect partnership and mutual submission under God's law as it was meant from the beginning with Adam.
