The Ministry

Feast of Tabernacles Sermon by John O. Reid

In the context of observing how distrust and contention can unravel even well-structured organizations, there is a notable frustration within some church members that manifests as complaining and murmuring about leadership. This attitude of distrust, though seemingly normal in a society where authority is often abused, cannot be allowed to persist unchecked. Such contentions create an environment that satan thrives in, directly opposing the atmosphere God desires for His church. Most complaints are directed toward the ministry, despite members generally getting along well with each other. Specific grievances include perceptions of secrecy on topics like dietary concerns and speculative studies, as well as personal criticisms of ministerial style and decisions, such as not announcing departures or perceived elitism. These issues reflect a broader challenge: the church has lost faith in God to work through His ministry. God has placed these ministers to serve, each with unique gifts, having faced personal and professional trials similar to those of the congregation. Rather than murmuring, members are encouraged to approach concerns with maturity, studying diligently and seeking clarification directly from ministers, while humbly praying for understanding. This approach fosters unity and resists satan's divisive tactics, reflecting the love and harmony God intends for His family.

Sin has tainted the most faithful leaders. Most (perhaps all) church leaders have skeletons in their closets, but we follow them as they follow Christ.

Discern and Distinguish Between Spirits
