  • Proverbs 1:1-7
    The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:
    To know wisdom and instruction,
    To perceive the words of understanding,
    To receive the instruction of wisdom,
    Justice, judgment, and equity;
    To give prudence to the simple,
    To the young man knowledge and discretion—
    A wise man will hear and increase learning,
    And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
    To understand a proverb and an enigma,
    The words of the wise and their riddles.
    The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
    But fools despise wisdom and instruction.

  • Proverbs 4:1-9
    Hear, my children, the instruction of a father,
    And give attention to know understanding;
    For I give you good doctrine:
    Do not forsake my law.
    When I was my father’s son,
    Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother,
    He also taught me, and said to me:
    ' Let your heart retain my words;
    Keep my commands, and live.
    Get wisdom! Get understanding!
    Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
    Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you;
    Love her, and she will keep you.
    Wisdom is the principal thing;
    Therefore get wisdom.
    And in all your getting, get understanding.
    Exalt her, and she will promote you;
    She will bring you honor, when you embrace her.
    She will place on your head an ornament of grace;
    A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”

  • Proverbs 8:1-13
    Does not wisdom cry out,
    And understanding lift up her voice?
    She takes her stand on the top of the high hill,
    Beside the way, where the paths meet.
    She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city,
    At the entrance of the doors:
    " To you, O men, I call,
    And my voice is to the sons of men.
    O you simple ones, understand prudence,
    And you fools, be of an understanding heart.
    Listen, for I will speak of excellent things,
    And from the opening of my lips will come right things;
    For my mouth will speak truth;
    Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
    All the words of my mouth are with righteousness;
    Nothing crooked or perverse is in them.
    They are all plain to him who understands,
    And right to those who find knowledge.
    Receive my instruction, and not silver,
    And knowledge rather than choice gold;
    For wisdom is better than rubies,
    And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.
    “ I, wisdom, dwell with prudence,
    And find out knowledge and discretion.
    The fear of the LORD is to hate evil;
    Pride and arrogance and the evil way
    And the perverse mouth I hate.

  • Proverbs 14:15-18
    The simple believes every word,
    But the prudent considers well his steps.
    A wise man fears and departs from evil,
    But a fool rages and is self-confident.
    A quick-tempered man acts foolishly,
    And a man of wicked intentions is hated.
    The simple inherit folly,
    But the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

  • Ecclesiastes 7:8-15
    The end of a thing is better than its beginning;
    The patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit.
    Do not hasten in your spirit to be angry,
    For anger rests in the bosom of fools.
    Do not say,
    "Why were the former days better than these?"
    For you do not inquire wisely concerning this.
    Wisdom is good with an inheritance,
    And profitable to those who see the sun.
    For wisdom is a defense as money is a defense,
    But the excellence of knowledge is that wisdom gives life to those who have it.
    Consider the work of God;
    For who can make straight what He has made crooked?
    In the day of prosperity be joyful,
    But in the day of adversity consider:
    Surely God has appointed the one as well as the other,
    So that man can find out nothing that will come after him. I have seen everything in my days of vanity:
    There is a just man who perishes in his righteousness,
    And there is a wicked man who prolongs life in his wickedness.

  • Ecclesiastes 7:26-29
    And I find more bitter than death
    The woman whose heart is snares and nets,
    Whose hands are fetters.
    He who pleases God shall escape from her,
    But the sinner shall be trapped by her.
    "Here is what I have found," says the Preacher,
    "Adding one thing to the other to find out the reason,
    Which my soul still seeks but I cannot find:
    One man among a thousand I have found,
    But a woman among all these I have not found.
    Truly, this only I have found:
    That God made man upright,
    But they have sought out many schemes."

  • Luke 9:62
    But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

  • 1 Corinthians 10:13
    No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

  • Hebrews 11:1
    Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

  • Hebrews 11:7-10
    By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith. By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

  • Genesis 13:1-2
    Then Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife and all that he had, and Lot with him, to the South. Abram was very rich in livestock, in silver, and in gold.

  • Job 32:8
    But there is a spirit in man,
    And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding.

  • Proverbs 2:1-12
    My son, if you receive my words,
    And treasure my commands within you,
    So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
    And apply your heart to understanding;
    Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
    And lift up your voice for understanding,
    If you seek her as silver,
    And search for her as for hidden treasures;
    Then you will understand the fear of the LORD,
    And find the knowledge of God.
    For the LORD gives wisdom;
    From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
    He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
    He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
    He guards the paths of justice,
    And preserves the way of His saints.
    Then you will understand righteousness and justice,
    Equity and every good path.
    When wisdom enters your heart,
    And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
    Discretion will preserve you;
    Understanding will keep you,
    To deliver you from the way of evil,
    From the man who speaks perverse things,

  • Proverbs 3:11-18
    My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD,
    Nor detest His correction;
    For whom the LORD loves He corrects,
    Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
    Happy is the man who finds wisdom,
    And the man who gains understanding;
    For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver,
    And her gain than fine gold.
    She is more precious than rubies,
    And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her.
    Length of days is in her right hand,
    In her left hand riches and honor.
    Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
    And all her paths are peace.
    She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her,
    And happy are all who retain her.

  • Proverbs 8:32-36
    “ Now therefore, listen to me, my children,
    For blessed are those who keep my ways.
    Hear instruction and be wise,
    And do not disdain it.
    Blessed is the man who listens to me,
    Watching daily at my gates,
    Waiting at the posts of my doors.
    For whoever finds me finds life,
    And obtains favor from the LORD;
    But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul;
    All those who hate me love death.”

  • Proverbs 14:29
    He who is slow to wrath has great understanding,
    But he who is impulsive exalts folly.

  • Proverbs 16:32
    He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty,
    And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

  • Ecclesiastes 1:12-13
    I, the Preacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem. And I set my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under heaven; this burdensome task God has given to the sons of man, by which they may be exercised.

  • Ecclesiastes 3:11
    He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.

  • Luke 11:23-26
    He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it swept and put in order. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first.”

  • 1 Corinthians 2:7-16
    But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. But as it is written:
    "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
    Nor have entered into the heart of man
    The things which God has prepared for those who love Him." But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For "who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?" But we have the mind of Christ.

  • 1 Corinthians 12:1-11
    Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant: You know that you were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit. There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences of ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

  • 1 Corinthians 15:33-34
    Do not be deceived: 'Evil company corrupts good habits.' Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.

  • 2 Corinthians 11:1-3
    Oh, that you would bear with me in a little folly—and indeed you do bear with me. For I am jealous for you with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

  • Ephesians 6:10-13
    Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

  • James 1:19-20
    So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

  • 2 Peter 2:20-22
    For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning. For it would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than having known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them. But it has happened to them according to the true proverb: 'A dog returns to his own vomit,' and, 'a sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.'

  • Genesis 1:26
    Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

  • Genesis 1:31
    Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

  • Genesis 2:16-17
    And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, 'Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

  • Genesis 3:2-6
    And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, "You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die."" Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

  • Genesis 3:12
    Then the man said, "The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I ate."

  • Genesis 3:17
    Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, "You shall not eat of it":
    "Cursed is the ground for your sake;
    In toil you shall eat of it
    All the days of your life.

  • Genesis 4:17-22
    And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, and called the name of the city after the name of his son—Enoch. To Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael, and Mehujael begot Methushael, and Methushael begot Lamech. Then Lamech took for himself two wives: the name of one was Adah, and the name of the second was Zillah. And Adah bore Jabal. He was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock. His brother’s name was Jubal. He was the father of all those who play the harp and flute. And as for Zillah, she also bore Tubal-Cain, an instructor of every craftsman in bronze and iron. And the sister of Tubal-Cain was Naamah.

  • Genesis 6:5
    Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

  • Genesis 11:4
    And they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower whose top is in the heavens; let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”

  • Genesis 18:11-15
    Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?” And the LORD said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.” But Sarah denied it, saying, 'I did not laugh,' for she was afraid. And He said, 'No, but you did laugh!'

  • Exodus 28:1-3
    “Now take Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to Me as priest, Aaron and Aaron’s sons: Nadab, Abihu, Elemazar, and Ithamar. And you shall make holy garments for Aaron your brother, for glory and for beauty. So you shall speak to all who are gifted artisans, whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, that they may make Aaron’s garments, to consecrate him, that he may minister to Me as priest.

  • Exodus 31:1-6
    Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: "See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship. "And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you:

  • Numbers 6:22-27
    And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: “The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you,
    And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
    And give you peace.”’ “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”

  • Deuteronomy 4:1-10
    'Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers is giving you. You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Your eyes have seen what the LORD did at Baal Peor; for the LORD your God has destroyed from among you all the men who followed Baal of Peor. But you who held fast to the LORD your God are alive today, every one of you. "Surely I have taught you statutes and judgments, just as the LORD my God commanded me, that you should act according to them in the land which you go to possess. Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, "Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people." "For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the LORD our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day? Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, lest you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren, especially concerning the day you stood before the LORD your God in Horeb, when the LORD said to me, "Gather the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children."

  • Deuteronomy 8:3
    So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the LORD.

  • Deuteronomy 29:29
    “The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.

  • Deuteronomy 30:15-20
    "See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."

  • Deuteronomy 32:28-29
    “For they are a nation void of counsel,
    Nor is there any understanding in them. Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this,
    That they would consider their latter end!

  • 1 Kings 3:4-9
    Now the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place: Solomon offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. At Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, "Ask! What shall I give you?" And Solomon said: "You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. Now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted. Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?"

  • 1 Kings 11:1
    But King Solomon loved many foreign women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites—

  • Job 1:6-12
    Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them. And the LORD said to Satan, “From where do you come?” So Satan answered the LORD and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” Then the LORD said to Satan, 'Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil?' So Satan answered the LORD and said, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Have You not made a hedge around him, around his household, and around all that he has on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. But now, stretch out Your hand and touch all that he has, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” And the LORD said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person.” So Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

  • Job 12:13-16
    “With Him are wisdom and strength,
    He has counsel and understanding. If He breaks a thing down, it cannot be rebuilt;
    If He imprisons a man, there can be no release. If He withholds the waters, they dry up;
    If He sends them out, they overwhelm the earth. With Him are strength and prudence.
    The deceived and the deceiver are His.

  • Job 34:1-12
    Elihu further answered and said: “Hear my words, you wise men;
    Give ear to me, you who have knowledge. For the ear tests words
    As the palate tastes food. Let us choose justice for ourselves;
    Let us know among ourselves what is good. “For Job has said, ‘I am righteous,
    But God has taken away my justice; Should I lie concerning my right?
    My wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.’ What man is like Job,
    Who drinks scorn like water, Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity,
    And walks with wicked men? For he has said, ‘It profits a man nothing
    That he should delight in God.’ “ Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding:
    Far be it from God to do wickedness,
    And from the Almighty to commit iniquity. For He repays man according to his work,
    And makes man to find a reward according to his way. Surely God will never do wickedly,
    Nor will the Almighty pervert justice.

  • Psalm 50:5
    “Gather My saints together to Me,
    Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.”

  • Psalm 50:16-23
    But to the wicked God says:
    “What right have you to declare My statutes,
    Or take My covenant in your mouth,
    Seeing you hate instruction
    And cast My words behind you?
    When you saw a thief, you consented with him,
    And have been a partaker with adulterers.
    You give your mouth to evil,
    And your tongue frames deceit.
    You sit and speak against your brother;
    You slander your own mother’s son.
    These things you have done, and I kept silent;
    You thought that I was altogether like you;
    But I will rebuke you,
    And set them in order before your eyes. "Now consider this, you who forget God,
    Lest I tear you in pieces,
    And there be none to deliver:
    Whoever offers praise glorifies Me;
    And to him who orders his conduct aright
    I will show the salvation of God.'

  • Psalm 90:12
    So teach us to number our days,
    That we may gain a heart of wisdom.

  • Psalm 119:123-125
    My eyes fail from seeking Your salvation
    And Your righteous word.
    Deal with Your servant according to Your mercy,
    And teach me Your statutes.
    I am Your servant;
    Give me understanding,
    That I may know Your testimonies.

  • Proverbs 1:25-32
    Because you disdained all my counsel,
    And would have none of my rebuke,
    I also will laugh at your calamity;
    I will mock when your terror comes,
    When your terror comes like a storm,
    And your destruction comes like a whirlwind,
    When distress and anguish come upon you.
    " Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;
    They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.
    Because they hated knowledge
    And did not choose the fear of the LORD,
    They would have none of my counsel
    And despised my every rebuke.
    Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way,
    And be filled to the full with their own fancies.
    For the turning away of the simple will slay them,
    And the complacency of fools will destroy them;

  • Proverbs 3:3-8
    Let not mercy and truth forsake you;
    Bind them around your neck,
    Write them on the tablet of your heart,
    And so find favor and high esteem
    In the sight of God and man.
    Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
    And lean not on your own understanding;
    In all your ways acknowledge Him,
    And He shall direct your paths.
    Do not be wise in your own eyes;
    Fear the LORD and depart from evil.
    It will be health to your flesh,
    And strength to your bones.

  • Proverbs 5:3-6
    For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey,
    And her mouth is smoother than oil;
    But in the end she is bitter as wormwood,
    Sharp as a two-edged sword.
    Her feet go down to death,
    Her steps lay hold of hell.
    Lest you ponder her path of life—
    Her ways are unstable;
    You do not know them.

  • Proverbs 7:4-5
    Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
    And call understanding your nearest kin,

    The wisdom of the prudent is to understand his way,

  • Ecclesiastes 7:1-6
    A good name is better than precious ointment,
    And the day of death than the day of one's birth;
    Better to go to the house of mourning
    Than to go to the house of feasting,
    For that is the end of all men;
    And the living will take it to heart.
    Sorrow is better than laughter,
    For by a sad countenance the heart is made better.
    The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning,
    But the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.
    It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise
    Than for a man to hear the song of fools.
    For like the crackling of thorns under a pot,
    So is the laughter of the fool.
    This also is vanity.

  • Ecclesiastes 8:16-17
    When I applied my heart to know wisdom and to see the business that is done on earth, even though one sees no sleep day or night, then I saw all the work of God, that a man cannot find out the work that is done under the sun. For though a man labors to discover it, yet he will not find it; moreover, though a wise man attempts to know it, he will not be able to find it.

  • Ecclesiastes 10:12-14
    The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious,
    But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up;
    The words of his mouth begin with foolishness,
    And the end of his talk is raving madness.
    A fool also multiplies words.
    No man knows what is to be;
    Who can tell him what will be after him?

  • Ecclesiastes 11:9
    Rejoice, O young man, in your youth,
    And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth;

    But know that for all these
    God will bring you into judgment.

  • Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
    Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:

    For God will bring every work into judgment,
    Including every secret thing,
    Whether good or evil.

  • Daniel 1:8-20
    But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank; therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Now God had brought Daniel into the favor and goodwill of the chief of the eunuchs. And the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, 'I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your food and drink. For why should he see your faces looking worse than the young men who are your age? Then you would endanger my head before the king.' So Daniel said to the steward whom the chief of the eunuchs had set over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, “Please test your servants for ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then let our appearance be examined before you, and the appearance of the young men who eat the portion of the king’s delicacies; and as you see fit, so deal with your servants.” So he consented with them in this matter, and tested them ten days. And at the end of ten days their features appeared better and fatter in flesh than all the young men who ate the portion of the king’s delicacies. Thus the steward took away their portion of delicacies and the wine that they were to drink, and gave them vegetables. As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. Now at the end of the days, when the king had said that they should be brought in, the chief of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. Then the king interviewed them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they served before the king. And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.

  • Daniel 2:4-12
    Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in Aramaic, “O king, live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will give the interpretation.” The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, “My decision is firm: if you do not make known the dream to me, and its interpretation, you shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made an ash heap. However, if you tell the dream and its interpretation, you shall receive from me gifts, rewards, and great honor. Therefore tell me the dream and its interpretation.” They answered again and said, “Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will give its interpretation.” The king answered and said, “I know for certain that you would gain time, because you see that my decision is firm: if you do not make known the dream to me, there is only one decree for you! For you have agreed to speak lying and corrupt words before me till the time has changed. Therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that you can give me its interpretation.” The Chaldeans answered the king, and said, “There is not a man on earth who can tell the king’s matter; therefore no king, lord, or ruler has ever asked such things of any magician, astrologer, or Chaldean. It is a difficult thing that the king requests, and there is no other who can tell it to the king except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.” For this reason the king was angry and very furious, and gave the command to destroy all the wise men of Babylon.

  • Daniel 3:16-20
    Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up." Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

    "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?" And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:

  • Matthew 14:22-33
    Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary. Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.' And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, 'O you of little faith, why did you doubt?' And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, 'Truly You are the Son of God.'

  • Matthew 25:14-30
    "For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money. After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. "So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, "Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them." His lord said to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord." He also who had received two talents came and said, "Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them." His lord said to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord." "Then he who had received the one talent came and said, "Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours." "But his lord answered and said to him, "You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. "For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."

  • Luke 9:37-42
    Now it happened on the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, that a great multitude met Him. Suddenly a man from the multitude cried out, saying, “Teacher, I implore You, look on my son, for he is my only child. And behold, a spirit seizes him, and he suddenly cries out; it convulses him so that he foams at the mouth; and it departs from him with great difficulty, bruising him. So I implored Your disciples to cast it out, but they could not.” Then Jesus answered and said, “O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.” And as he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him. Then Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, healed the child, and gave him back to his father.

But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? • Acts 5:1-10
    But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession. And he kept back part of the proceeds, his wife also being aware of it, and brought a certain part and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, "Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God." Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things. And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried him out, and buried him. Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. And Peter answered her, "Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?" She said, "Yes, for so much." Then Peter said to her, "How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out." Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying her out, buried her by her husband.

  • Acts 13:9-12
    Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, “O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.' And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had been done, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord.

  • Romans 13:1-7
    Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. For he is God's minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God's minister, an avenger to
    execute wrath on him who practices evil. Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience' sake. For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God's ministers attending continually to this very thing. Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

  • 1 Corinthians 1:18-24
    For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written:
    "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise,
    And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

  • 1 Corinthians 1:26-31
    For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption— that, as it is written, "He who glories, let him glory in the LORD."

  • 1 Corinthians 3:2-4
    I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not carnal?

  • 1 Corinthians 4:1-8
    Let a man so consider us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful. But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human court. In fact, I do not even judge myself. For I know of nothing against myself, yet I am not justified by this; but He who judges me is the Lord. Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one's praise will come from God. Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively transferred to myself and Apollos for your sakes, that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written, that none of you may be puffed up on behalf of one against the other. For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it? You are already full! You are already rich! You have reigned as kings without us—and indeed I could wish you did reign, that we also might reign with you!

  • James 2:14-17
    What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,' but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? • 1 Peter 1:22-23

  • 1 John 4:1-6
    Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are of the world. Therefore they speak as of the world, and the world hears them. We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

  • 1 John 5:18-19
    We know that whoever is born of God does not sin; but he who has been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one does not touch him. We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
