Letters to Seven Churches (Part Seven): Repentance

Sermon; #1483AM; 69 minutes
Given 20-Apr-19

Description: (hide)

There is much confusion about the timing of the Resurrection, but a truthful translation of the Scriptures makes it clear. The Last Day of Unleavened Bread is the anniversary of the crossing of the Red Sea and the Exodus from Egypt. Pharaoh typifies the angry, frustrated tyrant—Satan the Devil—who attempts to trap God's called-out ones in a box canyon, with an impossible water course to cross. Thankfully, as God has made a way of escape for our ancestors, Christ, through the sacrifice of His mortal life and His resurrection to eternal life, has made a way of escape for us with the promise of eternal life. As the apostle Paul reminds us in I Corinthians 13, redemption is useless without eternal life, made possible only through Christ's resurrection and life. The trek below the walls of the Red Sea typified the baptism undergone by current called-out ones in the Israel of God. Paul warns us to avoid the mis-steps of the ancient Israelites and to walk in the Spirit rather than in the flesh. Our instructions to stay the course to the Promised Land is the same as for ancient Israel. But our Savior has given us extra power, writing His law into our hearts, far superior to the external stone tablets given to our forebears. Unlike the former animal sacrifices, Christ, who lived a sinless life, was resurrected and has been given unlimited power to which we can tap into to aid our sanctification process. As High Priest, Christ is putting all His called-out ones through the paces, tailoring the trials, tests, and experiences needed for successful sanctification and ultimate glorification. As typified by the Festival of Unleavened Bread, let us continue to eat the Bread of Life, by His life in us and our submission to His will.
