  • Ecclesiastes 8:11-12
    Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil. • Exodus 20:5-6
    you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

  • Proverbs 2:1-12
    My son, if you receive my words,
    And treasure my commands within you,
    So that you incline your ear to wisdom,
    And apply your heart to understanding;
    Yes, if you cry out for discernment,
    And lift up your voice for understanding,
    If you seek her as silver,
    And search for her as for hidden treasures;
    Then you will understand the fear of the LORD,
    And find the knowledge of God.
    For the LORD gives wisdom;
    From His mouth come knowledge and understanding;
    He stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
    He is a shield to those who walk uprightly;
    He guards the paths of justice,
    And preserves the way of His saints.
    Then you will understand righteousness and justice,
    Equity and every good path.
    When wisdom enters your heart,
    And knowledge is pleasant to your soul,
    Discretion will preserve you;
    Understanding will keep you,
    To deliver you from the way of evil,
    From the man who speaks perverse things,

  • Proverbs 8:13-18
    The fear of the LORD is to hate evil;

    By me kings reign,
    And rulers decree justice.
    By me princes rule, and nobles,

    And calves from the midst of the stall;
    Who sing idly to the sound of stringed instruments,
    And invent for yourselves musical instruments like David;
    Who drink wine from bowls,
    And anoint yourselves with the best ointments,
    But are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.

    And those who recline at banquets shall be removed.

  • Matthew 7:24-27
    "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. "But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell.     Wisdom calls aloud outside;

    She speaks her words:
    " How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity?
    For scorners delight in their scorning,
    And fools hate knowledge.
    Turn at my rebuke;
    Surely I will pour out my spirit on you;
    I will make my words known to you.
    Because I have called and you refused,
    I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,
    Because you disdained all my counsel,
    And would have none of my rebuke,
    I also will laugh at your calamity;
    I will mock when your terror comes,
    When your terror comes like a storm,
    And your destruction comes like a whirlwind,
    When distress and anguish come upon you.
    " Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;
    They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.
    Because they hated knowledge
    And did not choose the fear of the LORD,
    They would have none of my counsel
    And despised my every rebuke.
    Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way,
    And be filled to the full with their own fancies.
