With the Feast of Tabernacles approaching, we should ask not only, "Why are you here?" but "Why are you going?" The Feasts provide a precious opportunity to step away from daily routines, worship God according to His instructions, and gather with brethren. Scripture reminds us that God determines what is holy and how it is to be observed. The fourth commandment begins with "Remember," calling us to keep the Sabbath holy because God Himself sanctified it. Jesus Christ declared that He is Lord of the Sabbath, making clear that its observance is not ours to redefine. Likewise, Leviticus 23 repeatedly emphasizes the seven days of the Feast of Tabernacles. Isaiah 58 warns against pursuing our own pleasure and ways on God's holy day. True worship requires honoring God on His terms. As we prepare for the Feast, let us remember our holy calling, rejoice in God's appointed times, and treat His Sabbath and Feasts with reverence, obedience, and love. The specifics do matter to God.
