If God's people do not believe they are lovable, suffering from an inferiority complex, victim mentality, or false humility, they will not grow spiritually and may deprive others of a blessing by refusing to accept charitable help from a spiritual sibling. We have an obligation to make it easier for others to love us, eliminating any obstacles or burdens within our own hearts that might prevent or discourage them from loving us. Pride, insecurity, self-doubt, anxiety, despair, a gloomy self-image, feelings of inferiority, inadequacy, or weakness not only make us unlovable, but prevent our spiritual siblings from receiving a blessing for helping us. When Paul admonishes us to esteem others before ourselves (Philippians 2:3), he did not intend that we denigrate ourselves in disgusting, obsequious, false modesty. Insecurity is not a synonym for humility and does not win favor from Almighty God.
