Galatians 5:22 listed nine specific things that God's called out saints should be practicing, behaviors which Paul assures us there is no law (Galatians 5:23). Some naively assume these nine fruits are the evidence of New Testament grace rather than Old Testament law. But the Old Testament highlights these same behaviors, highlighting the Way. In Psalm 14 and 15, David asks the rhetorical questions, "Lord who may abide in Your Tabernacle and dwell upon Your holy hill?", concluding with "he who walks uprightly," something which Uriah evidently shamed David into realizing, and "he who works righteousness," something Abigail had to model for David, getting him to reconsider his own rash behavior. The fruits of God's Holy Spirit are obviously coterminous in both the Old and New Testaments, as the apostle Peter reminds us that "the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and His ears are inclined to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil" (I Peter 3:12).
