description: (hide) As we consider giving gifts to our physical father on Father's Day, or our Heavenly Father through offerings on Holy Days, we are giving back to God a portion of what He has given us (Deuteronomy 8:18). As we reflect on something special about a gift that was given to us, we may remember how a gift satisfied a unique personal need or profoundly changed our lives, such as determining not to go into excessive debt. When we contrast the physical gifts which we have received from our physical parents with the gift of the Holy Spirit from our Heavenly Father, we realize the gift of the Holy Spirit, leading to an intimate relationship with God, eternal life in the God family as called out first fruits, is priceless. We cannot let the appreciation of this gift wane, thinking we are somehow entitled. We must remember what this gift cost our Savior, done on our behalf, and realize how much we are debt after He wiped the slate clean. Never forget the gift that we have been given and the relationship we have been called into.
