description: (hide) The account of the widow's mites may well be the best-known scriptures concerning offerings. While the other offerings were given from an abundance, this woman gave from her poverty, offering a bigger sacrifice than all the others combined. The world lacks understanding between offering and charity; offerings to God are not nor never have been charity. Our offering is not where our bank accounts are, but where our hearts are. In God's church, the spiritual things in life always take precedence over the material. Very few of us can say we gave all we had, but the poor widow gave all her livelihood away that day. It was an offering done in faith. Whatever the future held, her life with God would always show her love for God, no matter what the circumstances.
