While it is inspiring to observe the acts of heroism performed by Medal of Honor recipients, it is far more inspiring to recognize everyday heroes living among us, including parents, workers, and first responders living faithful lives. Though the word "hero" rarely appears throughout the scriptures, the Hebrew word gibor (mighty one) illustrates that God's heroes live blamelessly, faithfully, and graciously. This message identifies three paths towards becoming a Christian hero: 1.) Be a good parent, which entails teaching and guiding children in God's ways; 2.) Serve our brethren, practicing sacrificial love as modeled by Our Lord Jesus Christ, actively serving and supporting fellow believers; and 3.) Set a good example, living obediently, thereby pointing others toward Christ through daily conduct. As God's chosen saints, we are not striving after earthly medals, but instead a crown of righteousness and eternal glory. Heroes persevere and remain courageous, trusting God will never abandon them. Consequently, godly heroism involves steadfast faith, sacrificial service, and living as a daily witness to God's way of life.
