Socialism, as an economic and governmental system, stands in direct opposition to the rule of law because it fundamentally denies private property, individual liberty, and lawful order while masquerading as a righteous or even Christian system. A leading religious commentator's observation captured this precisely: socialism is described as "the denial of the rule of law, of private property, of individual liberty, and is therefore destructive of Christianity." Even more troubling, this same denial of lawful order is often carried out "in the name of Christianity," meaning the ungodly system is sold to people as though it were a true Christian way of life in government, when in reality it is nothing more than government-backed piracy and plunder on a massive scale. This rejection of the rule of law produces what can be summarized as socialism functioning as mob rule. Historical precedent shows that whenever nations adopt socialistic economic systems, the result is not stability but citizen riots and unrest among the unemployed, occurring more frequently than under any other form of government. The rule of law is replaced by the lust and police power of the mob, unleashed upon the nation itself. This mob dynamic occurs because socialism subtly persuades people to desire what their reasoning tells them they deserve, without being willing to work for it, and it teaches them to pursue that desire through the force of collective numbers rather than through lawful, godly order. The government itself becomes a kind of "high place," a place of power to which the mob looks up, echoing the biblical pattern of high places as seats of judgment and power, though here corrupted into an object of mob allegiance rather than divine authority. The breakdown of the rule of law under socialism is tied to two root causes, both stemming from failures in proper childrearing rather than from the political system alone. First, mobs act outside lawful boundaries because they do not recognize that God is the author of all government, that every government answers to Him, and that He will ultimately judge. Lacking this understanding, people take matters into their own hands rather than respecting lawful order under God. Second, children are not taught to accept that life is not always fair, a reality traceable back to the sin of Adam and Eve, and this lack of acceptance breeds rebellion against lawful government, which the mob mentality exploits and amplifies. Ultimately, the rejection of the rule of law under socialism is inseparable from its godlessness. There is no "free lunch," and the bills for such lawless plunder always come due. Recorded history, including the Bible itself, demonstrates God's reaction to this pattern, for "you shall know them by their fruits," and the fruits of socialism's denial of lawful order are consistently destructive rather than beneficial to the nations that adopt it.
