Socialism is portrayed as the denial of the rule of law, of private property, and of individual liberty, and therefore destructive of Christianity, especially when it is sold in the name of Christianity. It is described as a massive system of government-backed plunder that robs Peter to pay Paul, and its fruits, by the standard that "you shall know them by their fruits," are mob rule and the police power of the mob. Because people believe they are getting something for nothing, they gather into mobs and force their desires, so the mob itself becomes their high place of power, and the fear and respect owed to government are overwhelmed by the strength of the crowd. Mob rule occurs occasionally even under despots and kings, but far less often than under socialism. It is traced to a lack of proper childrearing, on the pattern of Abraham, whom God trusted to teach his children. Children must learn two things. First, God is the author of government, all governments answer to Him, and He will judge, so people should not take matters into their own hands. Second, life is not always fair because of others' sins, a condition that goes back to Adam and Eve, who began the rebellion against government. No free lunch exists, and the bill always comes due.
