Hearing and Understanding the Truth

Sermonette by Cody Ford

The world struggles to hear God's Word, as many turn away from truth and chase after myths, unwilling to tolerate sound teaching. As II Timothy 4:4 warns, people will reject truth in favor of falsehoods, evident in the widespread celebration of pagan holidays like Christmas. Despite some individuals grasping certain biblical truths, they often remain blind to others, refusing to accept the full scope of God's teachings. Matthew 13:10-17 reveals that while some are blessed to understand the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, many have dull hearts, closed eyes, and hard ears, unable to perceive or turn to God for healing. Isaiah 44:18 further illustrates this spiritual blindness, stating that their eyes are plastered over and their minds closed, preventing them from seeing or understanding. God calls for worship in spirit and truth, as John 4:24 commands, and He would not endorse practices rooted in lies. Those who are called by God must remain set apart, diligently guarding their calling and growing in it, as II Peter 1:10 urges, to ensure they never stumble. I John 4:4-6 emphasizes that those of God overcome the world through Him who is greater, distinguishing the spirit of truth from the spirit of error. Hebrews 2:1 warns against drifting away by neglecting the truths we have heard, underscoring the importance of holding firm to God's Word amidst worldly distractions.

The Christian and the World (Part Two)

There is a clear demarcation in God's mind regarding which is the true way and which is not. We were formerly children of Satan until God rescued us.
