Strangers to the Truth (Part Three)
CGG Weekly by Mike FordThe time approaches when all the lying will come to a head, making it hard to believe a word anyone says, even from neighbors, friends, and those closer. It is at that time when the Man of Sin will step into this moral vacuum and convince many that he is a god, a deception that starts with lying by us and others, at the instigation of satan.
The Truth About Deception (Part Three)
CGG Weekly by David C. GrabbeHow can we be confident that we will not be deceived by Satan's schemes? Trusting in our own intellect, experience, or human abilities is folly, for the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. God warns that cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, for such misplaced trust causes the heart to depart from the LORD, leaving us vulnerable to the deceiver's tactics. We cannot anticipate all of satan's methods, as he targets both our weaknesses and strengths, sometimes in plain view and other times through subtle, patient schemes. On our own, we are outmatched. Yet, God declares that blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD and whose hope is the LORD. Our protection against deception lies in a growing relationship with God, submitting to the truth at every turn. Those who survive the deceptions of this end time have a love of the truth, focusing their very being on the Father and the Son, so that false messiahs and prophets cannot sway them. Their security comes not from personal strength, but from the protection God provides to those who demonstrate a heartfelt desire to live with Him eternally, no matter the cost. They engage in frequent prayer, focused study of God's Word, and occasional fasting to humble themselves. With their hope and trust in the right place, they are blessed with the spiritual strength to resist and overcome the father of lies.
