Hearing and Understanding the Truth
Sermonette by Cody FordThe world struggles to hear God's Word from the very start, for it is only through being called by God the Father that one can truly understand. Many turn away from the truth, chasing after myths because they refuse to tolerate sound teaching. As Christ explained, it has been given to some to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to others, it has not been granted. Seeing, they do not see, and hearing, they do not hear, nor do they understand, fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah that their hearts have grown dull, their ears hard of hearing, and their eyes closed to the truth. Blessed are those whose eyes see and ears hear, for many prophets and righteous men desired to perceive these things and did not. Those who are willing, seeking, and open to God will receive more understanding, while the majority remain closed-minded, unable to grasp the truth. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must do so in spirit and truth, for He would not command observance of a lie. Those of God hear the truth, while those of the world do not, revealing the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. Therefore, we must give earnest heed to what we have heard, lest we drift away, holding firm to our calling and protecting it as we navigate this world.
