Journey for Joy

Sermonette by Bill Onisick

Only when we are united with God can we find true joy. If we consistently use His Spirit as a resource, we will have joy as we navigate through trials.

Joy in Our Time

Commentary by John W. Ritenbaugh (1932-2023)

Joy in our time is exceedingly difficult to achieve due to the overwhelming burden of sin and immorality in a world oblivious to the root causes of its problems. This difficulty is compounded by the timing, as we are in the prophesied time of the end with little hope for national repentance. Biblical joy, however, is not laughter or hilarity but a calm cheerfulness, a positive, upbeat, hope-filled attitude. It does not spring from anything earthly or material, though material things hold value; its true source lies elsewhere. This joy is inseparable from godly love, and without a true love for God, one cannot receive this love or the accompanying joy. The quality of one's relationship with God determines the presence of this joy, which is essential to bear the horrific times we face. Sorrow and joy can coexist, as seen in Jesus Christ, who was a man of sorrow and acquainted with grief, yet also possessed joy and peace in living life. Similarly, Paul was sorrowful yet always rejoicing, and Peter spoke of joy unspeakable and full of glory, despite each enduring difficult lives and martyrdom as plotted by God. For us, this is the best of times because of the revelation and gifts given by God to negotiate our path, yet it is also the worst of times due to the unique and intense evil of the end time. We must not cast away our cheerful confidence, for God assures us that with His help, we can endure.

Joy No One Will Take From You!

Feast of Tabernacles Sermon by Martin G. Collins

Materialism has never led to anything but increased sorrow. True lasting joy is based neither on material accumulation nor in physical accomplishments.
