Satan (Part 1)

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh

Goliath as a type of Satan appears only briefly, at the close of the sermon's call to spiritual warfare. After describing Satan and his demons as formidable, invisible foes who work through people, the sermon assures believers that victory is already secured: Jesus Christ is "our David" who has defeated "their Goliath, Satan," and He lives in believers. The comparison casts Satan as the towering, intimidating enemy whom Christ has already overcome. Yet the victory is not automatic in daily life. Believers must acknowledge that these adversaries are real and give God the chance to defeat them through obedience, putting on the whole armor of God and holding their position against Satan's deceptions of pride, envy, and covetousness.

Satan (Part 2)

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh

Satan uses disinformation, spread through false ministers/prophets, teaching smooth things that destroy. We must test the spirits to ensure a teaching is from God.

Satan (Part 5)

Sermon by John W. Ritenbaugh

To resist the Devil is to resist unlawful desires, not allowing him to manipulate our emotions. Satan works on fear of being denied something pleasurable.

Fear of Death

Sermonette by Ronny H. Graham

Fear of death originated with Adam and Eve's sin of eating from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil, and, in response, they tried to hide from God.
